We all need to feel supported along our journey towards health and healing. Whether that’s finding company with the parts of ourselves that have become discarded and neglected over the years, or support in taking those first courageous steps towards living a life we truly and deeply yearn for and deserve. My practice is trauma-informed, inclusive, and free from judgement. My work is deeply informed by the field of relational neuroscience, grounded in humanistic principles, and harnesses somatic based healing practices. Every part of you is welcome in this space of unconditional acceptance, non-judgement, and compassion.

Through the integration of EMDR, somatic therapy and other evidence-based psychological modalities, I guide clients on a transformative journey.
When was the last time you experienced harmony with your core principles? At Hartwell Counselling, I provide a compassionate and transformative therapy rooted in evidence-based practices such as EMDR. EMDR which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and its the gold standard for treating and processing trauma. EMDR reduces trauma symptoms in a shorter time frame than the traditional talk therapy. Many clients have reported a reduction of traumatic symptoms after the initial few sessions of EMDR. EMDR is not a magic cure for trauma but it might produce some symptoms relief.

I take a relational, somatic, and psycho-educational approach.
I know it can feel like an overwhelming process to find the right counsellor, so thank you for taking the time to read my profile. I also know that when we do find the right fit, counselling can help us gain insight and perspective, and achieve positive personal growth. The relationship between the client and therapist creates the foundation for change, so I strive to build trust, rapport, and mutual respect with my clients. The way you and I interact together will be the practice ground for the skills that will help to improve your own personal relationships - the most important being your relationship with yourself.

With a background in Relational Somatic Therapy, we work with the nervous system and body mind integration to meaningfully shift these old patterns and heal emotional wounding so that you may move forward with greater ease.
Whether you're dealing with past trauma, difficult family dynamics, or are stuck in frustrating patterns, feelings of disconnection and anxiety can easily become your day-to-day. In a world that can be challenging to navigate at the best of times, the struggles we face can sometimes feel insurmountable. It is my belief that we all need support and connection in order to process our experiences and to feel safe and secure in our own skin. With the tools somatic therapy brings we can support the body to complete it’s natural healing processes, helping us find the freedom to live our lives to the fullest.

I am experienced in Somatic Therapy techniques that help strengthen the connection between the mind and body.
I help people learn to forgive themselves for the things they had to do in order to survive. I believe that when we feel safe in our body and free from the shackles of our past, we can create our dream reality. By honouring our sensitive nature, and creating a safe space to explore, we can set our inner child free - inviting playfulness, humour, and curiosity to the healing process. We are not what has happened to us, we are who we choose to become. I'm here to help you discover who you truly are on a soul level.

Do you feel like you are unable to calm? Do you feel anxious and judged by others? Do you feel restless, irritable, and stuck in "on" mode in this ready-to-react mode? Do you have persistent negative thinking, emotional fluctuations, and repeating the same actions and patterns? Do you feel stuck and unable to lift your mood? These are among some of the many symptoms of trauma. Trauma changes the nervous system and the ability to regulate our nervous system is directly correlated with our mental health. EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Somatic therapy can help heal the nervous system, by processing and releasing trauma stored in the body.

Through a Jungian, Narrative and Somatic lens, I work with clients braving a wide range of personal and systemic challenges.
When our experiences become too overwhelming, confusing or distressing to navigate alone, therapy can be one of the most powerful containers offered to us. Together, we uncover patterns that no longer serve you, identifying the narratives that are healing or unhelpful, and learn to balance the tension of opposites. To be human is to suffer. We can learn to be in relationship with our pain by learning to be with our bodies. When we listen from within, we can step into our fullest selves with dignity, grace and consciousness. It's my privilege to walk your unique path of purpose and acceptance.

By using a somatic and mindfulness-based approach, we can work on recognizing and acknowledging limiting beliefs and patterns which create lack of flow, and move beyond them.
Whether you are feeling stuck in life, experiencing a transition or loss, or feeling disconnected from your core self, counselling can help. My clients are typically high-functioning and competent individuals, yet struggle on the inside with issues such as anxiety, emptiness, identity and recurring unhelpful patterns which affect them, their relationships, and other areas of their lives. What if you viewed the parts of you that feel stuck or the issues that you experience as profound opportunities for growth and transformation?

Using both cognitive (CBT) and somatic-centred practices, our work focuses on learning strategies to respond differently to stress and threat.
It's natural for us to seek safety, security and comfort; however, there are often obstacles in our way that prevent us from achieving these goals. With 20 + years of experience, my practice caters to people experiencing any measure of grief, loss and trauma, with a special interest in death, dying and bereavment, and reproductive challenges, pre-natal, perinatal, and postnatal trauma, including but not limited to infertility, miscarriage, traumatic birthing experiences, loss of a child, depression and anxiety, and parenting/relationship challenges.

The counselling modalities worked with include Internal Family Systems, Somatic Mindfulness, Compassionate Inquiry and Attachment-based therapy.
Welcome, Bonjour. I’m Danièle (elle/she/her). I am passionate about guiding clients to accessing their inner resources when faced with challenges and uncertainty. In turning towards their felt experiences, I've witnesses clients learn to trust their bodies and themselves, making them more open and available in relationships and in life. My areas of focus include anxiety and trauma healing, perinatal mental health and life transitions.

My approach is holistic, relational, experiential, somatic, and transpersonal, trauma informed, ancestral and anti oppressive.
When we are overwhelmed with the struggles of life & past trauma, it can feel as if our whole life is unravelling and can be a lonely, dark, anxious space & challenging to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Perhaps you have felt unworthy, unseen & unheard. I understand that feeling. I imagine you are here, because you want to do something different. Perhaps you have been trying to do it on your own. What if I told you, you were never meant to? Is there something in you stirring, a flame burning, desiring change in your life? Lets get curious. Connect with me to start on your own unique healing journey today.

I use IFS, somatic, art, and relational approaches.
You're so good at intellectualizing things but it's hard to slow down and make space for your emotions. Sometimes you feel "stuck" in your mind, wondering WHY you feel the way you feel. You often go on autopilot for days or weeks before the emotional overwhelm catches up with you. The anxiety, perfectionism, uncertainty, negative body image, worries, and internal clutter spin like a washing machine in your head. It's too much, so you find comforting ways to numb out... Still, you want to understand your patterns and process your past. You are ready to put in the work to finally feel grounded.
