I have been working in the mental health field for about a decade, and I have experience facilitating recovery groups, advocacy work focused on increasing accessibility of therapy services, and providing crisis support for those at their most distressed. I have a passion for working with families and couples and navigating the isolating and complex corners of life together, such as grief/loss, traumas, relationship stress, anxiety/depression, eating disorders, and ADHD.

We will start by talking about what matters most to you (work, relationship, lifestyle), and what isn't working.
Clients come to me when they feel that something in their life needs to change, but can't quite see the path forward. Some clients aren't quite sure where to start, or even exactly where they want to go. Many feel overwhelmed, stuck, frustrated or exhausted by the experiences and cycles in their life that seem to repeat themselves despite desperately wanting them to change! Our work together could help you gain clarity about where you want to go, identify and remove obstacles (internal & external), provide you with practical new tools for navigating a complex world, seeing changes, and moving forward with joy and confidence!

I believe the most important part of my role is to create an environment and relationship that is safe, and therefore, I work from an overarching anti-oppressive, trauma-informed and feminist lens.
There are times when we just don’t feel like ourselves. For some of us, this means feeling overwhelmed by our thoughts and emotions, while for others the disconnect can come from feeling nothing at all. This internal “ickiness” can show up through our emotions, thoughts, or in our body, and is often a scary, confusing, and unsettling experience. This intuitive feeling is typically caused by misalignment; whether it’s having conflict within ourselves, feeling out of step with those close to us, or feeling out of place in the world around us.

I come to the therapeutic relationship with specific expertise in issues surrounding sexualities, gender, and social inequality.
I am an integrative psychotherapist and bring curiosity, warmth, compassion, and a sense of humor to the therapeutic relationship. I use a collaborative, strength-based, and relational approach focused on promoting long-lasting change. Fundamentally, we are social beings, embedded in complicated social relationships. It is my belief that many struggles people face are linked to how they experience these relationships and how larger structural and societal issues impact these relationships. I strive to work side-by-side with my clients in the healing process, helping them to pave the way toward a more authentic and satisfying life.

Your sex or relationship issues leave your life feeling like it is in turmoil even outside of the bedroom. You’ve tried to manage things on your own, but it’s a struggle, and you’re tired of struggling. Friends and family don’t understand, but it’s not like this is something you can talk to them about anyway. And even if there is that one friend that you can talk to, they don’t really know what to say.

You can learn to trust and show up for each other, and build a relationship that is more satisfying, steadying, and joyful.
You’re ready to stop feeling disconnected from your partner. Despite your best intentions, conversations keep going sideways and you end up back in the same argument again. It’s frustrating to feel stuck, not knowing how to bridge the distance between you. You care about your partner, but miscommunication and accidentally pushing each other’s buttons sometimes gets in the way of enjoying your time together.

We begin establishing a therapeutic relationship which the research has identified as a key factor in growth and change.
My work focuses on those who find themselves lost along their journey. Life can become stressful very quickly. You may feel like you've lost control, that you are stuck in repeating undesired patterns or you just haven't felt like yourself recently. These ups and downs make us human. It's in those down moments that things can begin feeling really dark. You may not be able to see the path forward, bringing up various emotions. Path Forward Counselling was created to help in these moments of distress. A masters level counsellor at Path Forward Counselling can see a path and help guide you along, even when it is hidden from you.

I have a non-judgmental and compassionate presence and I use this to create a comfortable environment and secure relationship with each client.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in the belief that we all have the capacity for change and continual growth. No problem is insurmountable, sometimes we just need a little help - whether we feel slightly stuck and need a push to start moving again or feel completely overwhelmed and need someone to help us see things from another perspective. No matter what you are struggling with, my aim as a therapist is to be by your side as you take on this journey of self-discovery and growth.

My vision is to support Individuals, Couples and families to discover their fullest potential, to believe in their abilities, to strengthen that self-trust and confidence in their lives. With that, they will be able to - Respond and remember the truth and trust in themselves when those struggles of life show up - express it in a healthy way, not holding on to it and have it negatively affect their relationship with themselves and others around them. Learn and have the tools to cope and express. In counselling, we start to heal the beliefs that keep each and every one of us separate, and we walk towards intimacy and connection.

While I work with a variety of issues, I specialize in supporting individuals and couples with relationship issues, addictions and mood disorders.
Therapy can be a transformative journey, one that holds the potential to foster feelings of radical acceptance and self-compassion, cultivate a sense of inner peace, and provide healing and care to each and every part of you. Developing awareness of yourself and your relationships can often be the first step toward creating change. Together, we'll identify your strengths, explore patterns that may be holding you back and give space to those deeper parts of you that have longed to be seen and understood. We will also work through any events or self-talk that may be creating distress or keeping you stuck.
