Hello, I’m Loretta, a queer-identifying registered social worker offering individual therapy for adults and youth (10+). My practice is warm and trauma-focused. I believe in co-creating a collaborative, respectful space where we can explore your strengths, inherent wisdom, and resources to support you in moving through life's challenges. I've supported clients in exploring their gender and sexual identity as well as navigating complex trauma, AuDHD/ADHD, anxiety, low mood and substance use. I work particularly well with clients struggling with overthinking, challenges around embodiment, or feeling stuck in relational patterns.

I ground my work in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, however I draw on many different modalities, including CPT, EMDR, DBT, ACT, and EFT.
I am humbled to work with adults experiencing depression, anxiety, LGBTQ+ related challenges, trauma, relationship challenges, stress, and worry. Regardless of what led you here, many of my clients seek counselling as a result of being fed up with the way things are. Together we will work to uncover why you feel the way you do, develop tangible strategies to work with rather than against your emotions, and spend time expressing them in ways that will work for you long term.

There is a saying that is very true and I believe that most people need to hear it. "It's okay to not be okay;" Everyone has their own challenges and struggles in life. I have been able to gain valuable experience working with anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. I have experience using modalities such as Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy ( DBT), Narrative Therapy, Acceptance-Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These modalities work with many challenges and struggles, meaning there is no right or wrong modality.

I have been trained in several modalities, including cognitive behaviour therapy and dialectical behaviour therapy.
To be human is to feel, to think, to sometimes reel. Life can bring so much joy and so much pain, sometimes even in the same week. Connection, passion, and a deep sense of self can feel far away at times. Juggling family, work, and personal fulfillment can feel conflicting, exhausting, and at times, unattainable.

I am eclectic in that I draw from various modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy ( DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and I incorporate somatic and mindfulness approaches.
I believe feeling comfortable and connected is when therapy is most effective, and that every person requires something different. My goal is to support you to know and understand yourself and what you need; to come back home to yourself. I specialize in areas of anxiety, depression, ADHD, burnout, substance use, emotional dysregulation, and relational issues. I also enjoy working with folks navigating life transitions, working on their self-esteem, and healing from trauma. I have worked in healthcare, community, not for profit, and private settings. I see clients virtually in Alberta and BC, and in-person on the Sunshine Coast, BC.

Progressing through my career, I am fortunate enough to work with clients belonging to diverse backgrounds, genders, personalities, and mental health issues. These experiences allowed me to build my professional abilities along with developing a method of counselling that best fit the values of empathy, togetherness and understanding. I hope to help you work through your struggles in order to achieve the life you have always deserved!
