Our therapy accesses and mobilizes your inner resources to get you back on your path to wellness. I blend various approaches to empower change towards healing, expansion, and evolution into your fullest potential.

I believe feelings are not meant to be supressed rather they are to be acknowledged. Embracing your courage becomes the voice that can roar or be the quiet voice of change and acceptance

Therapy can be a daunting experience, kind of like climbing a mountain—you have an upward destination, but may not know exactly how to reach it and it can feel intimidating. As the counsellor hiking alongside you, I am here to provide emotional support when your feet grow cold or tired. I may remind you that you have untapped, inner strengths that you have yet to be made aware of. I may even point out things you can’t see—like an avalanche about to happen or an alternate path you could take. But eventually, on your own, you get better at climbing, and better at appreciating the journey.

Most of my clients haven't found relief. They may have been unsuccessful in previous therapy ventures like CBT. They are not interested in using medication to resolve their PTSD, Complex PTSD, anxiety, depression, stress, or self-esteem issues. They may have considered suicide or used other control behaviors to help them self-regulate their emotions. They typically have experienced childhood trauma through verbal, sexual, neglect and/or physical abuse that has invaded their adult lives. Or, they may have had entirely normal childhoods, not feeling their experience was different from others, yet still have the above side effects.

If you're struggling or going through a tough time you may want some support. My team and I welcome the chance to work along side you. Finding the right fit with a therapist is really important for counselling to be helpful. It should be with someone who really understands what is happening for you, someone qualified to help, and someone who you feel comfortable talking to. Therapy involves effort. The good news is that you won’t be doing it alone. The alliance between us means that we'll be there to support you, ready to work with you while you create your path forward.

In the course of our lives, we inevitably encounter challenging periods and we do our best to navigate with the resources that we have. When the pain and distress become too difficult to cope, having a safe space and a trusted therapist to talk to can help. Allow me the privilege of relieving some of the burden, thereby fostering space necessary for personal growth and a hopeful future.

Many women fulfill multiple roles including being daughters, professionals, partners, and caretakers; they also face competing expectations for these roles. This leads them striving to be their best for others, often at the expense of being the best for themselves. This creates stress, frustration, anxiety, and depression. My goal is to help you navigate life’s challenges so that you can tune into yourself to gain clarity on your goals including decreasing worrisome thoughts, feeling more engaged in day-to-day activities, and improving your relationships.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
