My goodness mental health and relationship challenges can be wild, and you don't need to navigate them alone. Whether this is for yourself, family, dependent, or relationship, I am deeply passionate about mental health and certain positive change can occur together. While therapy can seem nebulous, I believe in demystifying the counselling process, using evidence-based best practices, and empowering you through education and insights to address the roots of your concerns.

Life can be messy, difficult, and complicated. (So much more that we expect!). Navigating this is tricky - human beings are complex individuals and we each face unique issues and challenges. Therapy offers a space to untangle the discomfort (while also building resilience and skills to respond to future challenges) so you can focus on living the life you want. Building upon my corporate background, I specialize in navigating challenges between professional and personal worlds. I often work with entrepreneurs or professionals (in high-pressure, finance or medical roles) and young adults in their early career stages.

Life has no shortage of challenges and it can be overwhelming to balance our goals and obligations in the best circumstances. When we’re dealt a difficult hand, we may feel overburdened with all that the world asks of us. I want you to know that there are resources designed to help you. If you're navigating the complexities of trauma, grief, anxiety, or major life changes, I am here for you. I believe that everyone has their own timeline for their self-healing and self-development journey. I also believe that profound healing can be achieved through authentically connecting with others. We don’t have to embark on this journey alone.

The poet, Mark Doty, writes: "What did you think, that joy was some slight thing?" The common view of therapy is that it's a place to unload & unpack the hardships & woes that burden you. Many of us are accustomed to thinking that joy is 'some slight thing', that our shadows are far more complex, dynamic & compelling. Contrary to this, my experiences as a therapist reveal to me how people's resilience, hopes & dreams are far more sophisticated & worthy of examination than the tricks & underbellies of their so-called demons. I am passionate about helping people reclaim joy & vitality; to find possibilities where they only see walls.

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Certified Art Therapist (DVATI). I work from a culturally sensitive, anti-oppressive, inclusive framework. I use a creative process because it engages people on many levels and allows them to express themselves and their difficulties in new and unexpected ways. Through a trusting therapeutic relationship, we can work to shift these challenges into new perceptions. This process can be intimidating for some, who think “I can’t draw very well”. These skills are not a necessity, as the therapeutic work can happen as much in the process itself as it does when exploring the product.

Whether you are feeling stuck in life, experiencing a transition or loss, or feeling disconnected from your core self, counselling can help. My clients are typically high-functioning and competent individuals, yet struggle on the inside with issues such as anxiety, emptiness, identity and recurring unhelpful patterns which affect them, their relationships, and other areas of their lives. What if you viewed the parts of you that feel stuck or the issues that you experience as profound opportunities for growth and transformation?

Are you high-functioning and competent on the outside, but a hot mess on the inside? Under your mask, do you secretly struggle with anxiety, not feeling good enough, poor boundaries, a sense of emptiness, and/or difficulties in your primary relationships? If so, isn't it time you cultivated a relationship with the REAL you, the one who has gotten lost underneath all of those long-standing negative emotional and relational patterns? I know you're still in there. And it would be an honor to help re-connect YOU with YOU, so that you can experience more ease, clarity, presence, emotional awareness, and authenticity in your life.

The best way out is through—Robert Frost... And that's precisely where we'll go. Carefully, with skill, and while building resources, we can uncover that clear and peaceful part of you whose voice wants to be remembered. We can address the symptoms on the surface while looking beyond them to the root causes of your distress. Stress, trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, relationships, food and body image issues, identity queries, goals, values: it's all welcome here. I've worked as an Eating Disorder and Body Image Coach for 5 years, teaching HAES and Intuitive eating principles in International boarding schools with youth and adults.

I empower women and young adults who are feeling stressed, worried and “not good enough” to step into the life and self-worth they deserve! You might feel constrained by low self-worth, too many “shoulds”, perfectionism or people pleasing. You might be feeling stuck in relationship patterns that are painful or unsatisfying. You might struggle to set boundaries with others. Maybe you struggle with guilt, shame, anxiety, loneliness, sadness, or feeling like you don't "belong". Together we'll identify and work with your thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and inner "parts" to help you better understand yourself with compassion.

What a courageous step you're taking, to reach out for help. I honour what you've been through to bring you to this moment. Perhaps you are feeling overwhelmed with life and trying to "hold it all together", or maybe your needs are falling to the bottom of the priority list. Maybe you notice patterns in your life that keep repeating such as perfectionism, negative self-talk, destructive behaviours, unsatisfying relationships, or mindlessly distracting yourself. If you yearn to: know and trust yourself more deeply, be more gentle and tender with yourself, and feel the freedom to be yourself, I am here to support your journey.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
