Hello, if you have been wondering about counselling, or struggling with anxiety, depression, challenges in your relationship(s) or self-esteem, I will meet you where you are and support changes that you want to create. I work from a trauma-informed, person-centred counselling approach. I am a warm, compassionate, and caring person who is empathetic and non-judgemental. I incorporate DBT and CBT techniques to help you develop coping skills to move forward in your life. My intention is to create a safe space where you can do “your work” in healing yourself, working through old traumas and patterns and create a healthier way to be.

My philosophy as a counsellor is founded on a collaborative approach. Together, we explore perspectives, abilities, strengths you can draw from, as well as, barriers that may be impeding, the changes you seek. We are all experts of our own lives and you possess important knowledge, skills, and abilities vital to making changes in your life. Two counselling theories I identify most with include: Narrative Therapy and Existential/Logotherapy. In 2022 I trained in EMDR. It was transcendental both experiencing it as a client and as clinician. The research behind this therapy is so robust, I have also actively integrated into practice.

Life can be messy, difficult, and complicated. (So much more that we expect!). Navigating this is tricky - human beings are complex individuals and we each face unique issues and challenges. Therapy offers a space to untangle the discomfort (while also building resilience and skills to respond to future challenges) so you can focus on living the life you want. Building upon my corporate background, I specialize in navigating challenges between professional and personal worlds. I often work with entrepreneurs or professionals (in high-pressure, finance or medical roles) and young adults in their early career stages.

She listens nonjudgmentally and helps her clients to develop self-compassion and self-understanding. Her clients also feel a sense of safety in her direct approach. Clients reflect to Madison that she creates an environment that supports vulnerable engagement which promotes meaningful change.

My greatest joy is working with children, youth, and parents who need support, patience, and compassion. My clients often come for support with anxiety, depression, difficulties following divorce or separation, bullying, separation anxiety, trauma, grief, lack of motivation, social anxiety, gender identity, and sexuality. I work with clients using a mix of play therapy, art therapy and talk therapy. Through play, art, and talk, I help clients process their experiences, express their feelings, share their thoughts, change their narratives, create goals and learn new skills.

I specialize in empowering people with knowledge, tools, and confidence to successfully "self manage" a health condition, or navigate a life transition, and "get back to better living". My area of expertise is working with clients with concussion/mTBI, COVID, pain, anxiety, mood, and executive functioning symptoms. My skill set is also applicable for persons "feeling stuck" and wanting to create meaningful and sustainable changes in their lives. With all clients, I use a client-centered, mindful, and holistic approach, guiding clients to set goals and use practical strategies and take steps to restore health and well-being.

I'm a Registered Psychologist and have been in private practise for over 10 years. I can help you learn the skills you need to manage your symptoms of anxiety, stress & depression. You'll have more confidence to cope effectively with the everyday challenges that can arise at home or work. You'll gain effective strategies and learn useful tools to address current issues, and if you wish, we can use EMDR to re-process negative experiences that may be holding you back or keeping you from reaching your potential. I love my work and consider it an honour and a privilege to join you in helping you reach your therapy goals.

At different times in our lives we face challenges that are more than we feel we can handle. Counselling is an opportunity for you to explore, learn, discover, and grow as a person. I believe that having a safe, non-judgemental, and empathic place to explore your needs is the perfect starting point for change. I work primarily with adolescents and young adults to support them across the challenges and transitions those ages can bring. Some of the more common areas I work with clients on include; Identity, Grief, Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, and Communication.

My counselling aims to help you deal with and overcome issues that are causing emotional pain or making you feel uncomfortable. I provide a safe and regular space for you to talk and explore difficult feelings. By discussing your concerns with you, I can help you gain a better understanding of your feelings and thought processes, as well as identifying ways of finding your own solutions to problems. It can be a great relief to share your worries and fears with someone who acknowledges your feelings and is able to help you reach a positive solution.

If you are looking for that "safe place" to share without judgment or criticism, look no further. I know first-hand how difficult it can be to open up to someone about life's most private issues and challenges - as well as how much relief and peace can come after doing so. Whether you desire to quickly resolve a current issue or obstacle, or hope to identify and overcome some deeper, longer-standing issues that are preventing a full and satisfying life, together we can help you get there with YOU as expert of your own life!

ARE YOU A TEEN, OR A PARENT OF A TEEN? Are you feeling challenged, misunderstood, or feeling pressure in teenagehood? Or are you are parent who is challenged by your teen? Depression, anger, and anxiety are common feelings that can be running the show for teens and parents during this developmental stage of teenagehood, and can feel overwhelming. Staying trapped in the same fights, frustrations, anxieties, and unhappiness is a harmful cycle that can have lasting effects.

It is common to struggle with challenges and issues that seem difficult to approach. At times you may feel stuck or hopeless, and lack insight or skills required to deal with the problem! Emotional wellbeing and mental health influence your general health and how you make decisions, handle stress, and face challenges in your life and in your relationships. You may be facing a challenge in your personal life, with your child, or with your partner; whichever is the case I can support you with my expertise and experience, and help you implement positive change in your life.
