In my practice, I work with adults struggling with various issues from anxiety, depression and eating issues, to trauma, grief and relationship difficulties. We all have our own history of experiences, and we tend to react in specific ways under stress. While our response was likely our best option in the past, it may not be adaptive now. I can help you resolve past traumas, learn to accept what is, and move forward from there - developing ways to a fuller and more satisfying life.

If you are thinking of connecting with a counsellor, I encourage you to give me a call. Sometimes we find ourselves seeking a safe place to look at our life and the things that trouble us with someone who knows how to help. I would like to offer this to you. I am warm, engaging, and understanding. I will work with you to address the challenges you are facing. Everyone needs somewhere they can talk freely through difficulties. This is that place. Relax and explore in confidentiality, safety, in a relationship free of judgement and full of compassion, a place where there is comfort enough to look inside and grow.

Adverse Childhood Events (ACEs), in our tender years, whether they were caused by abuse, neglect or chronic parental mis-attunement are not only impediments to thriving in one's life, they increase the risk of serious physical disease in later life. Whatever hurts inside is simply asking to be known and loved. I believe that the difficulties and traumas of life need never define us as human beings. Rather, I believe that when safety, skillful caring and authentic connection are finally available for us, these very traumas can become the doors through which we discover our own unique gifts, talents and power as individuals.

Loss of health; adaptation to medical treatments and therapies; family conflict; separation and divorce; migration-related challenges (cultural and or geographical transitions - arriving and leaving); loss of employment; and career/educational transitions.
* Please e-mail prior to arrange an information phone call * I have maintained and deepened my passion for working with children and assisting families since I began counselling in 2000. I strive to facilitate the personal growth and healing in a non-directive way, in a manner that is empathetic, warm, and accepting. I see children as an essential component of a healthy family dynamic and strive to help them through their problems, anxieties, fears, and uncertainties by way of play, art, and sandplay therapy techniques.

In my practice, I offer support in the areas of death, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, life transitions, women's issues and relational conflict.
Thank you for being here and showing an interest in Narrative Therapy. It is quite possible that you are wondering, "What exactly is Narrative Therapy?" Narrative practice is a respectful, non-blaming approach to therapy and community work. It is dedicated to rich questions and generous listening. Narrative therapy explores the many skills, values, beliefs, abilities and commitments people have and is curious about the dominant discourses a person may find themselves up against in their lives.

Racialized adults, trauma-exposed professionals, neurodiverse people, and others. I've noticed a trend... Some people wait as long as they can before getting support, others reach out early, but no one is better off alone. I have been counselling adults, families, and youth for over seven years, and I've seen first-hand how Connection is at the heart of Healing. Trauma can hold us back. Neurodiversity complicates things (like navigating a society not designed with you in mind!). Grief, Loss, and other Life Transitions add extra Stress during trying times. With support, I'm confident you'll find your way forward.

Traumatic life events come in many forms. People feel powerless and groundless; often experiencing life on autopilot. If you experienced a traumatic event as a child or the care you received involved toxic amounts of stress, abuse or neglect, a variety of attachment wounds can interfere with your present-day relationships, parenting abilities, and general well-being. Experiencing loss, rejection, abandonment, abuse or neglect disrupts development and changes our focus to survival. There is no timeline for healing from trauma, but it is possible to recover and create the life you desire.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
