I'm Angela and I've been told that I'm approachable, warm and down-to-earth. Many of my clients come in saying that they had a "pretty good" upbringing. I create a space for you to explore whether it might be more layered. Through dreamwork, embodiment and somatic therapy, most people find that we have all collected socially constructed narratives that shape how we perceive the world, ourselves, and our relationships. They are the stories and beliefs that influence our values and identities. I've found that it can often be very helpful to have professional guidance in the journey back to your own body, voice and inner wisdom.

I work from an integrative, client-centered approach that is trauma-informed and rooted in empathy.
I provide an open, caring environment where all parts of you are welcome. It can be so difficult to navigate all the various challenges thrown at us today, while also striving to discover our most authentic selves. Complicated emotions are part of being human, but so often we isolate ourselves with these emotions out of fear or shame. In our time together, we’ll work to relieve those stuck parts of your experience so that you can move closer to yourself and the ones you love.

My approach is integrative, relational, and collaborative, with the belief that you know yourself best and have everything you need inside of yourself.
Is the world too loud, fast-paced, and overwhelming? Do you feel things more deeply and notice subtleties that others miss? Being part of a society that is not designed for those with high sensitivity can often lead to anxiety, stress, and low self-esteem. Trying to “keep up” to those with a majority temperament may leave you feeling burned out and unable to show up for yourself and those you love in the ways that you want and deserve. Learning to understand your unique expression of this innate trait allows for you not only to survive, but to thrive and see the beautiful gifts of being a highly sensitive person (HSP).

I also adopt a collaborative, integrative, and holistic approach to help each person gain greater clarity and insight, allowing them to navigate their life challenges.
Counselling can be seen as planting a seed that, with nurturing and attention, will grow into something beautiful. Every individual is akin to a seed that undergoes continual growth, advancing through each fleeting season filled with moments of happiness, sorrows, triumphs, bravery, disappointments, and fresh starts. Like seeds, humans require sources and resources to aid them in reaching their full potential, such as sunlight, rain, and soil. And just like every seed holds importance, every human being also possesses inherent value. By choosing to seek counseling, you have taken the first step towards transformation.

I invite an integrative approach into our sessions pulling from mindfulness and positive psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural theories, narrative and emotion-focused, through a trauma informed lens.
We are all travelling through life, finding and losing track of ourselves. there comes a time where we may feel unaligned and stuck with our current path. Bringing awareness to our path allows a moment to recenter ourselves to understand where we’d like to go next.

I work as an Integrative therapist using a wide range of approaches with client centred therapy as a base. I feel passionately that when you the client enter into a therapeutic relationship with me that you should feel safe and nurtured. I know how difficult it is to take that first step and I am here to help you to work through whatever issues are affecting your life and to enable you to regain your personal power. Most of us struggle with family of origin issues which if not dealt with can lead to depression, anxiety and other problems.

What is integrative therapy?
Integrative therapy is a type of therapy that combines ideas and techniques from different therapeutic approaches depending on the needs of the individual client. By merging elements of different treatments, an integrative therapist aims to offer a more flexible approach than those who practice just one type of therapy.
How does integrative therapy work?
Integrative therapy approaches a client’s mental, physical, and emotional health in a holistic way to discover the sources of their unhealthy behaviour patterns or other challenges and considers the approach most likely to lead to improvement. Among the techniques an integrative therapist may practice are cognitive-behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, art or music therapy, psychodynamic therapy, breathwork, family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, and trauma-informed therapy. An integrative therapist regularly evaluates the client’s progress and is prepared to pivot to a different approach if progress stalls.
How long does integrative therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for integrative therapy; people who find they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that spurred them to seek treatment. New patients should understand that it may take some time for a therapist to land on a treatment approach that best meets their needs, but once they do, they should expect sessions to extend for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
How effective is integrative therapy?
There are hundreds of types of talk therapy, and research shows that while they vary in form, goals, and frequency, many if not all can produce similarly successful outcomes. But a single approach does not always deliver the greatest, or speediest, benefit, and so even therapists primarily trained in one model will use tools, language, techniques, or exercises from others to shape an effective treatment plan.
