I work from an Adlerian, client-centred, trauma-informed, and family systems perspective.
Do you feel that life gets you going in circles, leaving you distressed, stuck, or barely holding on? You may be asking yourself: How can I deal with my constant worrying, fears or need for perfection? What can I do to better manage my kids, relate to them, or give them the guidance they need? Or how can I stop my negative thoughts, feelings, nightmares or flashbacks? If you're finding yourself grasping for answers, I'm here to say there's hope! I believe our mental health is an ongoing journey, with its ebbs and flows along life's path. As a fellow companion walking alongside you, we can work together to navigate a way forward.

Therapy styles I use include: Adlerian therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, Lifespan Integration and Gottman Method for couples.
Hello, I'm your online therapist! I largely work with millennials— go-getters, people pleasers, and anxious types. You might have noticed that the "roadmap of life" doesn't really apply these days, so you're out there navigating uncharted territory with your own compass and notebook. I can help. My ideal clients are people who want to overcome anxiety, manage stress, learn to set strong boundaries, improve their relationships, and reclaim their self-worth to build confidence. If any of this resonates with you (regardless of generation), you might want to work with me.

From a positive psychology Adlerian perspective, I believe that everyone has a fundamental need to connect with others, and that people thrive when they feel accepted, understood, and achieve a sense of belonging.
Feeling stuck? My approach is to build on your strengths, moving you from where you are to where you want to be. I endeavour to enhance the therapeutic relationship by creating a caring and nurturing space for you to express feelings, emotions, behaviours, and relationships. My compassionate nature brings to the counselling relationship the sense of safety, support, and encouragement you need. When facing difficult life tasks, I provide the encouragement to explore new ways to approach your concerns, help shift perspectives and create fresh insights.

Throughout my professional life, it has been my job to listen—first as a musician, and then as a counselling therapist. I know that it can be healing just to have a space to be heard and understood. I may not know right away how to solve the problem you’re struggling with - in fact, I’m quite skeptical of quick fixes - but I do know how to ask helpful questions and offer a fresh perspective.

Life is full of discouraging problems and it's easy to get overwhelmed, ignore the situation, pretend we don't need to change, or quit in frustration. We might hide who we are from others thinking we are unlovable or push others away so they can't see who we are. Counselling focuses on examining our self, our ways of navigating the world and situations, and trying to make changes that let us live happier, more authentically, and more free.

Sometimes, nothing feels more real than the words "I'm not good enough." And how is it I can be everyone else's cheerleader except my own? Instead of asking "What's wrong with me?", we get curious about the questions "What is going on?" or "What needs to change in order for me to better cope and manage?" By not judging our old patterns and understanding that they once protected us, I support clients in being able to then say, "I'm ready to live in a new way."

Adlerian Counsellors

How does Adlerian psychology work?

In the framework of Adlerian therapy, people are motivated by a sense of belonging and community, which drives them to surmount feelings of inferiority so as to contribute to their society; fulfilling these desires can help people flourish. Adlerian therapy proceeds in four stages—engagement, assessment, insight, and reorientation—in an overall effort to understand the client’s past and to achieve their present-day humanistic goals.

Is Adlerian therapy humanistic?

Yes, Adlerian psychology is humanistic; it focuses on the whole person, emphasises their strengths rather than just their symptoms, and centers them in determining how they can grow and flourish. This school of thought informed the work of Abraham Maslow, who went on to develop humanistic psychology.

How long does Adlerian therapy take?

Adlerian therapy is a short-term, goal-oriented form of therapy that takes around 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Of course, some people may be in therapy for a shorter or longer time frame; length depends on the individual and the problem or condition they wish to treat. Clients can ask their therapist about the timeline for treatment before they begin and check in periodically to ensure that they’re on the same page in terms of progress.

Is Adlerian therapy evidence based?

There is not as much evidence to support the effectiveness of Adlerian therapy as there is for other types of therapy such as cognitive behavioural therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy. But Adlerian therapy may be the right therapy for some people—whether they’re seeking to treat mental disorders or achieve self-growth—especially those looking for a holistic approach that emphasises relationships, community, self-worth, and purpose.
