My approach is client-focused, collaborative and optimistic, I view each person as an individual within a family system and can help with difficulties impacting clients biologically, psychologically, socially and spiritually. Pushing away your needs and not taking time for yourself can lead to long-term challenges for your mind and body. I believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to live a better life.

Areas of focus are: anxiety and depression, stress and burnout, trauma, bereavement and loss, life stage transitions, and couples counselling.
My passion is working with people who want to develop themselves at a personal and relational level. I work with people who have experienced great difficulty in life, whether this difficulty persists from childhood or results from more recent trauma or setbacks; people who understand that they need help and want to move forward in their lives, bringing tangible and sustainable change.....and freedom. I get excited about the transformational aspect that therapy can bring. I draw on my extensive life experience as a mature therapist, that brings with it acceptance, non-judgement and wisdom.

I have experience in working with people with challenges ranging from anxiety, stress, grief, depression, self-worth, body image, connecting to meaning and purpose, relationship issues, and life transitions, among other issues.
As humans, we all experience uncertainty and suffering at some point during our lives. A common misconception is that people need to hit 'rock bottom' before seeking counselling. In reality, some people come to counselling to work through specific life challenges, while others come unsure of the ‘why’ - they simply know they want or need something to be different.

Additionally, I have served as a mediator and a mentor for high-risk youth at the Abbotsford Restorative Justice and Advocacy Association. These experiences have equipped me to offer valuable support to clients confronting a range of challenges, including anxiety, depression, grief, navigating the unique complexities of growing up with immigrant parents who have a different cultural mindset, life transitions, and more.

In my practice, EMDR therapy has helped many clients of all ages move beyond stress, anxiety, grief, or depression towards greater confidence, self-esteem, authenticity, and passion.
Often my clients are wanting to explore a personal issue/problem/feeling that won't go away and is starting to affect almost every part of their life. Advice from friends or family isn't helping and nothing else they have tried has worked. They believe there must be a better way to be but somehow they are just stuck. I can help you tackle your issues, get unstuck, and find that better place. Both personally and professionally, I can attest to the power of awareness as a key factor in facilitating a desired change; We can’t find the truth listening to our own voice’s echo. We can find ourselves only in someone’s mirror”(Rumi, n.d)

On the outside, you look like you have it all together but inside you feel a tightness in your chest, a sinking feeling in the pit of your stomach, a constant nagging in the back of your mind. Anxiety can be like an undertow, pulling down the quality of your interactions, speaking worries and fears about your future, and reminding you of past regrets, keeping you awake at night; it can be overwhelming! Anxiety doesn't need to keep undermining your life.

Human beings experience severe life stressors sometimes, and when they do it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. I have a passion for helping people, who are experiencing difficulties, strengthen their relationships with themselves and others, so they can once again live purposeful, joy-filled lives, while still honouring their past.

As a man, therapy might not be your preferred use of time, yet a growing part of you is curious about what could be. Throughout your life, you’ve felt minimized and closed off from your potential. Maybe you’ve grown curious about that. You know you have lots to offer, but you are uncertain of what that could look like. You want to gain confidence and independence to realize your dreams or control your addictions, but you haven’t found someone who cares or understands enough to provide you with the support you need. You are noticing a new excitement and motivation to connect with yourself and others in a healthier way.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
