Who am I? Why don’t I feel anything? Why do I just “numb out” with TV, with drinking, or with endless scrolling? Why do I have no energy? What was I put on this earth to do? These questions and more have become all too common in our society. “Purpose” and “authenticity” have become popular buzzwords, but what do they mean? Most of us hide behind versions of ourselves that we have been taught to show to others, while pushing our true selves into the background. Sometimes, we lose sight of who we even are.

If you need help with connection, communication, emotional regulation and overcoming narcissistic trauma let's talk. With over 25 years experience as clinical counsellor I focus on what works to help you understand yourself and train the skills to improve your life. I'm warm, present, active and empathetic. In a short time with me individuals and couples experience breakthroughs. I provide direct guidance toward greater clarity, healthy boundaries, focus and wisdom by addressing life skills you haven't mastered. Internet rabbit holes won't facilitate change, but I will. You really don't have to do this alone anymore.

As a man, therapy might not be your preferred use of time, yet a growing part of you is curious about what could be. Throughout your life, you’ve felt minimized and closed off from your potential. Maybe you’ve grown curious about that. You know you have lots to offer, but you are uncertain of what that could look like. You want to gain confidence and independence to realize your dreams or control your addictions, but you haven’t found someone who cares or understands enough to provide you with the support you need. You are noticing a new excitement and motivation to connect with yourself and others in a healthier way.

Loss is something we all encounter at some point in our lives, and grief is our natural response when we have to say goodbye to something or someone we hold dear. The depth of our sadness reflects just how much we cared and were attached to what we lost. Sometimes, this sorrow can be so overwhelming that it becomes challenging to concentrate on anything else. It's worth noting that in many societies, we don't talk much about death, which leaves us unsure about how to handle grief—a part of life that never really goes away. Like an emotional rollercoaster; it takes us through a process of change that is difficult to navigate.

I have worked with many clients at different stages of their lifecycle. It is my passion to help youth and young adults deal with the problems they face. I am versatile dealing with different issues including anger management, substance misuse, depression, anxiety, and grief. When clients come to therapy, I am adept at finding out their needs quickly and creating a treatment plan the includes elements of compassion, skill-building, and harm reduction. My experience includes living and working in multicultural settings which makes me well trained in diversity and cultural competencies.

My practice focusses on adults who are themselves living with high functioning autism and/or HSP and/or ADHD. The sessions provide opportunities to talk in detail about one’s own unique experiences living with ASD or ADHD with someone who gets you. Engaging guided explorations lead to the revelation of blind spots and the discovery of ways to see things from new perspectives. Collaborative development of tailor-made strategies helps with communication, boundary-setting and the management of daily challenges. Sessions are free from judgement and you are supported to work at your own pace.

My goal is to be a rock-steady supportive force in my client’s lives as we work, first, to make the most out of the adversities and suffering they encounter, and then, to help fulfill their vision of a life worth living. With fierce compassion and companionship, cultural humility, coping skills, solution-focused strategies, and a dash of existential humor, I cater to my clients as unique human beings with individual needs. I intimately know what it’s like to not have a safe space where you can be seen for who you truly are, so I understand how exceptionally important it is for my clients to have our therapy be that secure base.

When anxiety, depression and stress feel never ending, we can find ourselves reacting in ways we wouldn’t normally or having perpetual frustration and disconnection with ourselves, others, and the world. It can feel like our situation, relationships, and mental health won’t or can’t get better. From both my professional and personal experience, I have seen the relief and power that comes from the courageous step to seek support and how connection with safe and supportive people can help heal and restore us.

While searching for a clinical counsellor, you may be at the second stage of change where you are contemplating how to manage the challenges in your life. At this contemplative stage you may be seeking support and guidance in an attempt to understand and create change in your life.

Are you feeling the weight of being stuck, despite your best efforts? You’ve had some success but also feel exhausted. Life's hurdles have felt overwhelming, adding to the stress and disconnection you're experiencing. You long to rediscover a sense of connection and presence, to feel whole again. While you know deep down that change is possible, the journey seems daunting, especially when facing it alone. That's why you're seeking support, a safe and nurturing environment where judgment is left at the door. I work with youth, adults and couples as well as those finding they need support as partners, caregivers and parents.

Life can be challenging and although we are often able to cope with the difficulties that come our way, there are times when we can become overwhelmed with our thoughts and emotions. An issue may arise that feels too difficult to manage on our own. I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever issues have brought you to seek support. I will help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and self-acceptance. It is perfectly normal to reach out for help. We will work together to meet your goals and find solutions that work for you. As a trauma informed therapist, I offer EMDR therapy.

Do you feel a bit wobbly, worried, stressed out, or stuck in repeating patterns that aren’t working for you anymore? Maybe you’re having a tough time navigating through anxiety, depression, or complicated personal relationships. Perhaps you’d like to get better at communicating with the ones in your life that matter the most. You could also be wondering why painful memories from long ago keep popping up and you wonder if there’s a way to make them stop. Facing all of this alone can feel overwhelming, but real healing and change can come when you connect with someone you trust and feel fully safe with.

Hi, I'm Justin, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Langley, BC. I have worked with individuals and couples for over 8 years in the Fraser Valley. My desire for growth and understanding brought me to the field of counselling and supporting others in their journey. I believe individuals are capable of getting through dynamic life issues, yet may benefit from having a space that gives room for new insights on this journey we call life.

One of the most profound sources of healing is already embedded in you; your body, your dreams, and your senses are always giving you clues as to what it is you need most, what you are invited to heal next, and where your next best step is. Current neuroscience reveals to us what ancient mystics and spiritual leaders have been showing us for millennia - that we can and will heal in profound ways as we gain capacity to integrate all of our experiences. Journeying together with a practitioner or healer who can see us, accurately reflecting back to us what we could not previously see, is a life-changing experience.

Before I try to impress you with credentials, accomplishments and experience, I want to introduce myself on a personal level. I love change. I love helping people create their change. I am passionate about seeing people make good decisions from well thought out options and choices. Helping people see the same, sometimes long term, problem in a different light or from a different angle is exciting for me. New, different and out of the ordinary usually leads to feeling, thinking and acting “another way”. When people stop doing what does not work or make adjustments of any size and level, then improvement is inevitable.

Taking that first step towards healing takes courage. I want to honour that and walk alongside of you while we work towards your wellness goals. The reality is that not many people are taught the skills to deal with life’s wear and tear. More often than not, we find ourselves in situations where we simply do not know how to work through things on our own. The good news is that we don't have to! Warmth and acceptance are key tenants of my practice, and sessions will be collaborative, judgment free and open to exploring whatever you bring to the table.

Working from a person-centred approach, I believe that you are your own best-expert. It is my aim to foster a safe environment where sharing and exploring can be done freely. I work with couples using a combination of different approaches creating tailored solutions to the obstacles they might face everyday. Focussing on individual and relationship strengths for resolution strategies. I also use Gottman method approaches to help deepen connection and improve communication.
