I know that it takes a lot of courage to reach out for help at times when we feel distressed, overwhelmed, vulnerable, confused, wrought with sadness, shame, hurt, guilt, intense worry... Some of us have been told or made feel that we do not deserve better, or that we are not good enough, or smart enough, or thin enough, or strong enough, or funny enough... Sometimes we seek refuge in food, alcohol, drugs, sex, or self-harm to cope with the belief that we can never feel differently about ourselves or the world.

There are times that it feels like everything is mounting against you or your loved one. It may feel like you have nothing left to give. That sense of hopelessness, powerlessness, and isolation. This may be one of the moments right now. You've taken the first step, let me help you with the rest. If you struggle with anxiety, depression, suicide ideation, self-harm, trauma, and family conflict I can offer support. If you just need someone to listen, someone to share the struggle, the weight of everything, let me be there for you. If your goal is hope and a new sense of self-empowerment you've come to the right place.

Are you looking for change, trying to understand your life better, or having trouble with your feelings, thoughts, or actions? These are the things I am best at helping with. I can easily adapt to what each person needs—whether you need someone to teach you, listen to you, or guide you, I can do that.

I do not believe that there is a single approach to counselling. I like to collaborate with clients to create a personalized treatment plan and "toolkit" of coping mechanisms. My goal as a therapist is to lead with compassion and genuineness; I believe in teamwork where clients guide me through their life experiences and I offer gentle and honest feedback, explaining the rationale behind suggested interventions. I feel that this balance of warmth, direction, and authenticity contributes to a strong working relationship.

You work with teenagers?!? is something I hear a lot. Do you remember the agony of being a teen? Feeling like you should have more choices than you do, and being almost as terrified of being called out as you were of being ignored? For the youth of today it's only gotten harder. Hi, my name is Brianna and I am a clinical counsellor specializing in youth ages 13 to 26, as well as parent-youth relationships. If you are a young person struggling with relationships, anxiety, depression, gender identity, or anything else, I'd like to listen. If you are a parent seeking to understand and communicate better with your child, I can help.

Clients who enter into therapy with me will find themselves entering into a warm and safe environment where they feel respected, valued and heard. Asking for help isn't easy. I always admire the courage it takes for a person or couple to decide to enter into the counselling process. People often feel vulnerable and anxious when they come to counselling for the first time and my goal is to help you feel safe and cared for, and to know that you're not alone. My belief about the therapy process is that in order to heal and grow, we need to "feel felt" - to feel genuine concern and understanding in a non-judgemental environment.

However you are ready to arrive at counselling our work will be collaborative in a safe and mutually respectful space. I am a trauma-informed and person-centred counsellor and my intention is to begin where you are and gently move to where you want to be through empathy, support, and acceptance. Leading with genuineness has helped me connect with people and remain curious about similarities and differences that make us who we are.

“Pain and suffering are always inevitable for a large intelligence and a deep heart” writes Fyodor Dostoyevsky. This quote, though inspiring, leaves much unexplained. How do we transform our experiences of pain and suffering (i.e. anxiety, grief, depression, relationship discord) into the beauty of a deeper heart? Marcel Proust provides a clue, “We are healed of a suffering only by experiencing it to the full”. Thus, the transformation of suffering comes through full experience. In a society that tends to bury suffering, a guide specializing in unearthing its hidden potential is key.

I have a warm, engaging, and professional demeanour that helps clients feel at ease, supported, and able to embrace the delicate balance between risk, hope, and trust. Most importantly, I want my clients to know that it is an absolute privilege that they invite me into their lives to share on their journey with them. This may include helping my clients with concerns relating to their personal growth, wellness, relationships, mental health, and/or psychological distress.

In the world of problems, maybe none are more worth solving than those that plague children and families. Over 20 years, I have dedicated my practice to solving these problems by counselling parents, children & families and assisting them through high-conflict challenges. In March 2013, the Family Law Act changed whereby it now is rightly focused on the best interests of the child and makes it possible for families to work with a parental coordinator who has judicial authority to make legally binding decisions. This alternate dispute resolution allows for a more effective process so that children of high-conflict families are not stale mated.

Human beings experience severe life stressors sometimes, and when they do it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. I have a passion for helping people, who are experiencing difficulties, strengthen their relationships with themselves and others, so they can once again live purposeful, joy-filled lives, while still honouring their past.

Feeling overwhelmed or pulled in so many different directions? Maybe, you feel unsettled, anxious or just “stuck.” You know that something needs to change, but are not sure where to start. Processing emotional pain or relational struggles by yourself can be very overwhelming. And it can be unbearably lonely. The people I work with are amid grief, or navigating tricky life changes. Others are struggling with relationships or carrying the weight of past hurt and trauma. I work to help clients feel what they may have avoided because it seemed too big and overwhelming.

I am a Registered Psychologist (since 1995) with training and experience in clinical (& forensic) psychology. I provide caring & compassionate therapy using the most effective therapies that are matched to your needs. Psychotherapy involves developing a therapeutic relationship in which you feel at ease, set goals, and choose methods to achieve these goals. People tend to overcome or manage issues after they develop understanding of what is amiss, develop motivation (if needed), learn healthy expression of emotion, and learn to examine and confront thoughts and emotions while practicing new behaviours.
