Human beings need to feel seen and heard. We need a safe, judgment-free place to unload. We need to understand our own needs in order to teach ourselves and others how to care for us. We need to speak our fears, our thoughts, our questions, our hurt, our hopes and our shame in a safe space, learn where it all comes from and how to navigate it in a healthy way. We need to learn what to accept and what to change. We need to unlearn and relearn in order to achieve movement when we feel stuck. We need to replace negative self-judgment with self-compassion. We need to remember that we can do hard things, because we have done hard things.

I am Certified in Lifespan Integration therapy and also have EMDR training. My research explored how some parents of twice-exceptional children thrived despite the extra challenges they faced raising complex kids.

And sometimes parts of our story interfere with us being able to move forward. We may find ourselves irritable, cranky, depressed, snappy, sarcastic, anxious, defensive, sensitive and protective. All of which are coping strategies for the hurt that has been suffered. These coping stances interfere with connections which is opposite of what we are longing for. All of us our craving to be in relationship.
