I'm an RP and ADHD-Service Provider with extensive and diverse experience.
Is your life full of “too”? Too many questions, too few answers. Feeling, thinking, and doing too much or too little. Too critical of yourself and focused on others. I’ve encountered many with this “too”, but together we’ll uncover the root of your concerns and create long-term change. We can start working towards living authentically and managing concerns confidently; improving relationships with others, and healing your relationship with yourself. From day one, it’s possible to have meaningful exploration and find useful strategies in sessions that are engaging, practical, and effective.

I specialize in working with people in life transitions, and people who are neurodivese, including ADHD and learning differences, including parents! I often see people when they are ready for change and need support with life transition- including parenting, separation, illness, career, education, new diagnosis.
Life can feel hard some times and I know reaching out for support is an act of self compassion. Welcome. Working with client's interests/comfort I interweave neurobiology, body based (somatic) interventions and expressive arts therapy, as well as ‘talk therapy’. These are engaged through a resilience and trauma informed lens. No creative/ artistic experience necessary, only your curiosity. I both have life and clinical experience with ADHD and learning differences and work with clients who live with ADHD. Particularly late treatment or late diagnosis, and especially where it overlaps with relationships, career and parenting.

My speciality is ADHD and the resulting symptoms and struggles that accompany it.
The client who's most suited to working with myself is someone who's interested in making changes in their lives and will bring their honest selves into therapy. It's someone who's struggling with challenges surrounding managing ADHD, anger, emotional regulation and addictive behaviours such as video game use. It's someone who wants to be in therapy with an individual who has gone through similar struggles and knows how to best empathize with, and assist them in working through their issues.

I enjoy working with individuals with ADHD.
Psychotherapy is my second career, and that makes me stronger as a therapist. That's because, in addition to my academic qualifications and clinical training, my own lived experiences as a daughter, a wife and mother, a student, an employee and an entrepreneur help me relate to my clients in so many meaningful ways. Clients relate to my sense of humour, empathy, and desire for growth as a person and as a therapist. And they value my ability to get to the root of the issue and expertise in both practical problem-solving and supporting clients' growth.

As an individual with lived experience with ADHD, I strive for an environment that is collaborative and allows you to work at your own pace and space.
Our environments - current, historical, and structural - shape who we are and the stories we tell ourselves. Challenging relationships, unsupportive environments, along with life transitions and stressors can impact your sense of self, how you view the world, and the path you walk. To those around us, this may present as anxiety, low mood, lack of motivation, anger/irritability, isolation from people and activities of interest. Within ourselves, this may present as feelings of stress, shame, guilt, and resentment towards the stories that make up our life thus far.

Hi there! Have you recently been diagnosed with ADHD or suspect you may have it? Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or frustrated? Do you feel behind in life or at work? Do you struggle to complete tasks or maintain a routine? ADHD (and co-occurring mental health challenges) can impact your ability to engage fully in various areas of your life. In my role, I work with you to figure out what is preventing you from living the life you want, while we work together to figure out how to overcome those barriers. Occupational therapy can help bridge the gap between your current situation and where you want to be.

I help adults experiencing overwhelm, ADHD symptoms, and insomnia regain control of their lives.
Many feel that their relationships, academic, or professional lives have become unmanageable because of stress, anxiety, or self-esteem challenges. Those with an ADHD diagnosis, or suspected ADHD, often grapple with feelings of overwhelm, rejection sensitivity, addictive behaviour, or a sense of not living up to their potential, while insomnia can rob us of our quality of life. As a therapist, I am here to help you find solutions to these problems. My clients often include working professionals, entrepreneurs, and students from the undergrad to PhD levels.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
