Do you struggle with feeling disconnected from yourself and others? Do you put your needs last? Maybe you are just not feeling like yourself. Perhaps you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed and uncertain about how you are supposed to manage all the things on your plate. Pushing away your own needs and living in survival mode can lead to long term issues for your mind and body. I believe it shouldn’t be so hard to live a better life.

Hello, I have been in the field for over 18 years and enjoy working collaboratively with others to see their true potential. One of my specialties is working with people who have experienced trauma such as: childhood, single incident (ie. motor vehicle accident), or first responder. Besides trauma, I work with people managing life stressors such as work-related, separation or divorce, or perhaps dealing with the experiences of anxiety and depression. By working together through these typically challenging situations, it allows an opportunity to communicate, discuss and consider open possibilities for change.

As an Occupational Therapist I work with people who feel stuck and reconnect them with their purpose and meaning in their life. I understand the mind-body relationship. I work with the inner child, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, ADHD, and OCD. I have a deep appreciation for how the nervous system regulates to process emotions and trauma. I know from both personal and professional experience, when someone is held in a room filled with safety, compassion and curiosity there is growth in one's mind, body, and spirit. This leads to integrating healthier beliefs and a more satisfying engagement in one's world.

I resonate deeply with complex trauma (neglect, abuse), shame, identity/meaning, relationship issues (individuals/couples), mood/personality disorders, and neurodiversity (like ADHD).
Hey! I'm Christopher, a Registered Provisional Psychologist. I work with teens, adults, couples and families dealing with a variety of concerns. I value flexibility, a deep connection and fun. I strive to meet you wherever you are in life's journey, whether that's diving deep and wading in the dark or if you're feeling stuck and need to untangle the mess. I aim to listen wholeheartedly and offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can be authentic. Lastly, I believe the journey is about progress (no matter how small) over perfection, which can be made a lot smoother when we are able to exhale and share a few laughs along the way.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
