Then using strategies from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy and Self Regulation Therapy (SRT) I work to help clients restore health and balance to these four areas of wellness.
It is my passion to work collaboratively with clients to find a new path toward healing, resolution, and growth. Through providing a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment I strive to help clients achieve their goals and renew their strength. I tailor each session to attend to the specific need and situation that clients present. I provide ways clients can integrate what they are learning in therapy to apply their new skills, tools and perspectives to their everyday lives. It is my desire to see individuals and families lead passionate and fruitful lives.

I am passionate about diversity and inclusion and I have training and competency with a variety of therapeutic approaches including EMDR, CBT, Narrative Therapy, Attachment Therapy, Somatic Therapy, etc.
Many of us have experienced adversity in our lives, including myself. Whether it is trauma, chronic pain/illness, racial discrimination or struggles, grief and loss, or depression/anxiety, these experiences often leave us feeling mentally, physically, and emotionally drained. My experiences have taught me that each person experiences adversity differently, and therefore, requires a unique approach for their unique experiential reality. Moreover, I believe that every person has the desire, capacity, and ability to heal and experience growth.

Hi there, thank you so much for being here. As a psychologist, I believe in a collaborative and client centred approach to therapy. I am truly passionate about assisting individuals in navigating life's transitions, fostering emotional regulation, nurturing personal confidence and self-esteem, providing support during times of grief and loss, and cultivating a healthier mindset. By re-authoring the stories we tell ourselves and challenging the negative beliefs we may hold, our minds can be a safe space again. Additionally, I find great joy in using humour in my practice!

I am honoured to support people in finding their path to healing. I believe that we have our own capacity to move through difficult times and know that taking this step can be pretty tricky. My approach is gentle and fairly eclectic, I tend to use the modality that best suits the clients needs with an attachment based lens. I tend to focus on play therapy and emotion focused therapies with children as well as utilize some dyad work. With adults I tend to use EMDR, trauma processing, solution focused therapy, person centred and emotion focussed therapy modalities. I offer a free 15 minute consultation to ensure I am the right fit.

Narrative Counsellors

Is narrative therapy evidence-based?

Narrative therapy is not well-studied, and it may not be as effective in treating mental health conditions when compared with evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioural therapy. Some small studies do show that depressed and anxious individuals who were treated with narrative therapy reported improvement in anxiety and depression symptoms.

How long does narrative therapy last?

Narrative therapy is less structured when compared with psychoanalysis, for example. Narrative therapy is more open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a few months, and sometimes a year or longer. Patients see their therapist one to two times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a person’s challenges and progress. Individuals can also practice the principles of narrative therapy after treatment has ended.

Does narrative therapy work?

Narrative therapy can help a person manage or reduce symptoms of conditions like depression or anxiety. This type of therapy encourages a person to reflect on the moments of their life when their particular problem was not at the forefront of their minds — perhaps life celebrations, achievements, and other successes. The individual is encouraged to rewrite their storyline as if their particular problem was not part of their life. This therapy may offer benefits that are hard to measure.

What are the possible limitations of narrative therapy?

Narrative therapy is person-centered or client-centered, and the health professional pays more attention to the subjective narratives that are constructed by the client, as opposed to other objective measures. The therapist privileges the individual’s perspective over all others. This open form may feel frustrating for individuals seeking a more structured approach; certainly, no one therapy type will work for every individual.
