Specialty areas of counselling are sex or pornography addiction, co-dependency, drug and alcohol addiction, dysfunctional families, family of origin issues, grief and loss, trauma, infidelity, partners of sexual betrayal, and spiritual care .
I have both professional training and personal experience with hard and painful situations. Whether you feel hopeless, unsettled, conflicted or downright angry at your circumstances or maybe you just sense there is way more to this life than you are currently experiencing, I believe I can help. With my direct approach, it won’t take long to get to the heart of the issues, the core problems, so we can work together to find the best possible solutions. I come alongside individuals or couples, adults and teens, to help understand or change perspective so you can rewrite the narrative of your life.

You will find professional help for issues such as : 1) looking for more emotional closeness with your partner or child 2) overcoming anxiety, grief, depression, and addiction from an attachment focused, relationship based approach.
Through all my personal and professional experience it seems that the foundation for much of our suffering and of our healing is in the context of our relationships with each other. I have found that exploring and unpacking our relationship experience and expectations provides new pathways for healing. I love seeing people's excitement as they become newly aware of the thoughts and feelings of their family, their community, and even their own selves. May we find more hope together. Together may we find your pathways home.

Offering telephone and online sessions to anyone in Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan or Manitoba. Sudden loss, or traumtic events can rock our world. Whether it happened last week, last month or years ago, these events can leave us emotionally wounded, limit our perspective and stunt our growth and potential. Shame, guilt, sorrow, anger and resentment act as powerful undercurrents poisoning our ability to fulfill our hopes and dreams. Often the root of past trauma and emotional injury (either big or small events) are what poisons the potential for our future. Counselling releases you from the negative impact of trauma!

Who are you? This seemingly simple question can be difficult to answer. Have you lost your answer? Tragedy, distractions, addictions, or avoidance often cause us to lose sight of our sense of self and lead us to make choices that contradict who we are at our core. The fallout of this can cause conflict in relationships and create unintentional barriers to building or fostering connections.

Despite your best efforts, there never seems to be enough time in the day. After caring for so many others in your life, you struggle to care for yourself. I support with issues related to family dynamics, parenting, relationships, communication skills, self-esteem, OCD, grief, anxiety, depression,.
“Smooth seas don’t make good sailors”--It's a bitter truth-- No One escapes the challenges of Life. "What’s the purpose of therapy?” I believe we are all leaders of our own lives. Whether we choose to believe so or not, we are still leading our lives everyday with the choices and decisions we make. We can either decide to make unconscious decisions, or we can finally learn about ourselves, and take charge by making more conscious decisions that will improve the quality of our lives. Therapy is learning about and then empowering that silent leader within you. "Life is a dance between what we can control and realizing what we cannot"

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
