Everyone feels stuck from time to time. Together we can develop the skills and strategies to work towards the future you hope for. Whether you're interested in counselling or sport/performance psychology, we can build on your existing strengths and experiences to help you feel stronger and healthier, and do what you do better. Overall, the healthier and more balanced we are mentally and emotionally, the better we tend to perform in our lives. As a Registered Psychologist, I believe that being proactive in your personal development and well-being can make the present more manageable and set up a strong foundation for the future.

Life is beautiful...but it can also be hard at times. You can feel proud that you have the self-caring courage to reach out for some help and guidance. It can feel so good to have someone in your corner, helping you to feel happier with yourself and how you are showing up in your life. That is my specialty! I love helping my clients shift negative self-beliefs; remove life blocks; get unstuck; feel more confident and esteemed; heal painful emotions and experiences; develop more effective living/coping skills; work through dreaded fear and anxiety; feel more connected in relationships... and enjoy life a lot more!

Most of us have a sense of the reasons for our difficulties. Yet, we still struggle to work through those issues, understand how they all fit together, and make lasting changes. My approach to therapy fundamentally involves helping clients to find insight about their difficulties through coming to a deeper understanding of themselves, and how experiences like trauma can impacted one's life. One of the ingredients to my approach is self-compassion. With self-compassion comes the ability to see oneself clearly, freedom to become one's true self, and relief from self-consciousness, depression, shame, fear, and anxiety.

My practice centres on supporting healthy relationships including those we have with ourselves, which is foundational in influencing the relationships we have with others, including with our friends, our partners, our children, and our families. Many of us spend time, energy, and money decluttering our homes and workspaces. I believe our hearts, minds, and emotions deserve to be decluttered too. You may be holding on to emotions and habits that no longer serve a helpful role in our lives, but that can change. If you're reading this profile, you're ready for change. That's a good thing, and I can help you let go of the clutter.

Whether you want to address past experiences or build a different future for yourself, deciding to go to therapy can be a difficult step. It is important to me that I provide a safe, welcoming, and non-judgmental space for you to explore whatever brings you to counselling. People are not “one size fits all” and I use a variety of therapies to meet my clients where they are at and help them achieve their goals. My interests lie in working with adults with a range of concerns including depression, anxiety, infertility, eco-grief, self-compassion, life transitions, relationships, and supporting survivors of trauma and sexual violence.

I may be a good fit for you if you struggle with anxiety, depression, unresolved anger, perfectionism, self-criticism, self-destructive behaviours, or have a history of childhood maltreatment. I don’t focus on diagnosis, but rather I invite you to reconnect with emotions that may have been dismissed, ignored, or too painful to allow yourself to feel. I believe that shame and self-criticism are at the root of many mental health concerns and self-destructive habits. Often these habits are our best attempts at soothing or numbing the underlying pain.

I deeply believe that the body knows what needs to be healed and holds the keys to that healing. Our systems, however, are so good at keeping us safe that we often can't access those keys alone. I use a range of tools to facilitate that healing, including conversation, meditation, visualization, mindfulness, IFS, AEDP, and sometimes energy work depending on the individual I am working with. I aim to be feminist, trauma-informed, and anti-oppressive, which means the client is always the expert on their own experience. We work collaboratively using a range of tools to find the right path forward for you.

Hi, my name is Liam, and it is my hope that through my client-centred approach, we can create a space where you feel heard and seen! We all have unique lived experiences, and it is those experiences that shape who we are — you are the expert of your life, and my goal is to help guide you towards self-actualization. Trust and safety are the important groundwork for therapy, and I like to cultivate that through humour where it's appropriate as well as open, empathetic listening. I like to work with a variety of presenting problems, but specialize in anxiety, perfectionism, relationship problems, and men's issues.

Many people struggle with confidence and are unable to fulfill their goals for relationships, work, and personal fulfillment. Understanding how your core values and beliefs impact aspects of your life such as work, relationships, and overall fulfillment can give you the power to overcome these struggles. Through learning to accept and love yourself fully you can move past shame that is likely impacting how you feel and behave. Through awareness of your power to change the meaning you give to events within your childhood, you can become free from limiting beliefs.

Mental health, relationships, and sex can be challenging and intimidating topics. You may even feel embarrassed to discuss these issues at times. There might be feelings of shame,  fear of judgment, conflicts with cultural or religious orientations, or uncertainty about your emotions. Life can be tough, and we may face unexpected challenges that make us feel hopeless or stuck in our relationships, careers, or life stages. I firmly believe that each of us has resilience and inner strength that can be developed to help us heal, grow, and develop personally.
