My practice approach incorporates different modalities to work with clients struggling through anxiety, depression, relationship stressors, marital stress, parent-teen relationship stress among others.
Life can be overwhelming sometimes and we feel that there is no way out because there are stressors everywhere we turn. It can feel like there is no way out of the overwhelming stressors we face, but I am here to let you know that it does not have to be so. Let us walk alongside in your journey of healing and mental wellness. As a registered social worker, I believe that you the client are the expert in your own life, and I am simply here to work in collaboration with you to reach your full potential. As Brene Brown says, "Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity and change".

I work with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, self esteem and marital issues.
Often times in life we can experience personal challenges. These challenges can include losses and trauma. They can leave us feeling anxious or depressed. Counselling can help one make sense of what they have been through. Times of struggle and loss can force us to look inward to re evaluate what has meaning for us and perhaps find out what is our purpose. I have experience working with CAF, First Responders and Vets, as well as people who have experienced childhood trauma. Whatever the challenge we can work together to help you heal and come into wholeness.

Other areas of practice include depression, anxiety, personality disorders, marriage and pre-marriage counselling, parenting difficulties and adult ADHD.
At times in our lives we experience challenges that feel overwhelming. No matter what is tried, nothing changes and sometimes things seem to get more cloudy, confusing and distressing. My hope is that through learning to approach challenges in a new way, and make sense of where you find yourself - you might find new ways of coping and growing. With a focus on integrative therapy engaging both the brain and the relationships we experience I employ a compassionate approach, seeking new ways of thinking, feeling, and being.

I work with clients around anxiety, depression, grief and loss, anger management, self-esteem issues, stress management, marital distress and communication concerns, as well as emotional regulation, mindfulness skills training, distress tolerance, and trauma.
I am a Registered Psychologist with a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta. My approach to therapy emphasizes the importance of confronting our painful emotions and experiences from a place of safety, curiosity, and honesty. I work with individuals and couples as well as teens and youth. I also have a special interest in working with men. I believe that men are often under resourced when it comes to accessing, expressing, and understanding their emotions, often leading to painful, yet avoidable, experiences.

I specialize in marital and family therapy, and hold special interest in grief/loss; chronic pain; work-life balance; and the integration of holistic medicinal practices for personal growth across the lifespan.
Working from a holistic frame, I believe that the source for all healing and lasting change is rooted in the mind-body-spirit triad, as well as the family-community connection. I support persons of all ages and histories in finding those resources that may guide them towards experiencing greater satisfaction in their daily living, sense of well-being, and in their key relationships. Using a variety of approaches, I tailor the therapeutic experience to best match each client's needs at any given point in therapy.

As part of a military family (spouse, sibling), I have an in-depth understanding of the specific culture, mentality, workplace-expectations, and higher probability of risks, illnesses, and disorders associated with these industries (OSI, PTSD, anger, family/marital strains, anxiety, depression).
Welcome! You have made the first (and often scariest and most challenging) step toward starting therapy: finding a therapist! Whether you are looking to improve your mental health, tackle some tricky issues in your life that seem to keep you in a cycle, or just want to talk to someone who can offer you support, you are in the right place. Rooted in a client-centred approach, I offer a supportive, nonjudgmental, and, at times, humorous environment to facilitate optimal growth for my clients.

Marriage Counselling
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
