I support individuals and couples.
Sometimes we get stuck in our story and feel like we're spinning our wheels, unable to get going again. Trauma and past wounds seem to hold us back from engaging with life. I've sure felt this way. And I'm here to let you know that your story matters - and that YOU matter. Whether your struggles are showing up as anxiety, hypervigilance, relationship issues, etc., I strive to create an environment where you can show up just as you are so that you can begin to feel safe and understood to start unpacking your experience. And maybe, just maybe, move towards different patterns and acceptance!

I am trained in Gottman Level 1, and also see couples.
Being vulnerable is really hard, especially with a stranger. I believe in the importance of building our relationship; allowing you to feel safe and comfortable, and for me to hold you accountable. We work in collaboration. If you are motivated to improve, I'm confident that we can identify and work toward developing the tools, coping skills, and understanding that will help you be your best. I find helping people discover their self-worth, set boundaries, and navigate life transitions, very rewarding. I enjoy working with depression, anxiety, stress, burnout, and relationship issues.

I offer relationship/ couples therapy, individual and sex therapy to adults at DiveThru's Studio, just off Whyte ave.
Hello! I see you’re scrolling through therapists and you’ve paused long enough to read my little blurb. I’m so glad you’re here! If you are struggling with your brain, your sexuality, or your relationships we can work through it together. Do you have concerns about your sexual desire: Too much? Too little? Too different? Are you grappling with your sexuality, coming out, or dealing with shame and stigma? Maybe things were great but something’s changed (what hasn’t these days?) and you need some help there. Your relationship could also be entering a new stage and you need some help navigating all those new challenges.

I love doing couples work, and working with families with adult children.
My approach to therapy is practical, creative, humorous, and interactive. Engaging in therapy is a vulnerable and courageous step, and I aim to foster a comfortable, collaborative process. When the tools and skills that were previously helpful are no longer working, I support clients to cultivate new coping skills, and identify potential areas for change and/or acceptance. I am a seasoned therapist who is able to draw from a variety of modalities depending on what comes up for the client.

You feel overwhelmed and defeated. Regardless of how hard you try, you feel like you aren’t good enough. You struggle to live up to the expectations that you have for yourself and that everyone seems to have for you. These feelings may show up in your relationships with partner(s), family, or friends; in your career; or even in how you relate to your body. Maybe the seeds of self-doubt were planted by a well-meaning person in your life. Maybe they come from your social media feed or societal expectations to be perfect. You wish you could let go of the pressure and live a more fulfilling and authentic life.

My specialized training includes Couples & Sex Therapy, Complex Trauma, Somatic Therapies, Child & Family Counselling, Grief & Loss, Multicultural Sensitivity, and Art Therapy.
Many of us struggle with self-doubt and inconfidence. It's like we’re carrying around an invisible weight that holds us back from feeling fulfilled in our relationships, work, and personal life. Core misbeliefs, often shaped by early life experiences, have a deep impact on our self-perception, choices, and behaviours. With more self-acceptance and by realizing your own truth, you can move past the walls that are impacting how you feel and think, and proceed with more confidence and compassion. It's a journey, but with each step you get closer to living a life that's true to who you really are.

It's possible to get to the space where you can: express your needs to your partner or parent and be heard; feel deeply that your trauma was not your fault; trust your intuition; and show self compassion even though the systems you live in work actively against it.
Are you a little different? Queer or Trans? ADHDer? Autistic spouse? Survivor of Religious Trauma? Maybe you have a specific set of unique personalities in your family. Maybe you have a bunch of labels but what you really want to talk about is being lonely. Maybe you've never found someone who really acknowledged that thinking your way through your problems doesn't work. Your problems don't fit in a neat little category, and you don't have a nice little summary of who you are, where you came from, and what is ailing you. Guess what? That's exactly how therapy starts: with the best pieces of you all tangled up with fear and shame.

Couples Counselling

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
