The setbacks in our lives can be anticipated (and dreaded) or unexpected and sudden. Huge or small, they are always painful. In any case, feeling temporarily stuck, scared, paralyzed or resentful is a normal response to an abnormal situation. If it persists, however, it can cause big problems for us or our relationships, work, family life and health. In such cases, I invite you to come and discuss your troubles with me, a neutral outsider with no hidden agenda who is able to explore a wide range of options and help you move towards where you would rather be.

Mental, emotional, social and behavioural disorders in childhood/adolescence can cause long-term problems that may affect the health and well-being of young people and families. Treating mental health problems as soon as possible can help children reduce problems at home, in school and in forming friendships. "When it comes to your kids, you are aiming a lot higher than mere survival…your ultimate goal is to raise kids in a way that lets them thrive. You want them to enjoy meaningful relationships, be caring and compassionate, do well in school, work hard and be responsible, and to feel good about who they are." - Daniel J.

Dr. McGrath believes we all have the ability to solve our problems. We may feel ‘stuck’ from past traumas or stresses or overwhelmed by present events. When we experience stress or trauma, it can be difficult to access these solutions because we are weighed down by our emotions. At Healing Change Centre, Dr. McGrath’s role is to facilitate finding solutions during a crisis so that people know ‘they can get through tomorrow’. He also aids his clients in becoming more aware of their emotions and expressing them in a different way, so they have the ability to stay connected.
