I am passionate about enriching couple relationships and I'd love to help you heal, strengthen, and nurture your relationship with yourself or partner.
Are you feeling disappointed, lonely, or even hopeless about your life situation or your relationships? Disconnection, stress, misunderstandings, boundary issues, or faltering trust in yourself or your partner are painful experiences to endure alone. You may feel lost, worried, or overwhelmed. Regardless of where you are at right now there is always hope. Even the most distressed individuals and damaged relationships can heal. Just imagine how much more fulfilling your life or relationship might be if you felt more loved and cared for by yourself and/or your partner.

I want us to build a strong therapeutic relationship together, and offer you tools for managing your mental health, your relationships, and your life more effectively.
Clients are more than an issue or a diagnosis, and therapy needs to reflect this. People need to be understood in their entirety, and therapy should adapt to the whole of what they present. Clients are working to overcome the barriers of mental health struggles, while also trying to function in relationships, work, school, and other important domains of life; I want to help them thrive in all of these settings.

I specialize in sex and sexuality, relationship and family concerns, couples' conflicts and communication, chronic pain and disease management, adolescent development, parenting concerns, anxiety treatment, clinical hypnosis, pre/peri/post-natal concerns, family planning, behavioural health interventions, and supervision/training of health professionals.
"Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." - Albert Einstein - As a psychologist, I tend to work with people to focus them on what they can change and control to find successes with their problems. Whether working with couples, families, children, youth, or adults, I'd like to be the guy who listens in a way others may have failed to hear you before. My ideal client is anyone craving new skills, new ways of thinking and feeling, and is ready to learn how to think anew about the things they were once sure of.

I work with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, perfectionism, relationship issues, maternal mental health, and body dysmorphia. I approach therapy from trauma-informed and attachment perspectives. This means that current beliefs, emotions, and relationships are influenced by the experiences of our past. I specialize in helping teens and adults struggling with issues around anger management, relationship issues, addictions or depression to develop greater self-awareness and self-compassion, and feel more connected with themselves and others.
Are you struggling to break your bad habits and keep healthy relationships? Maybe you're repeating unhelpful behaviors no matter how hard you try to change. Are you dealing with the consequences of impulsive decisions, losing control, or substance use? Often, these actions are the ways you learned to cope with the stresses of life to protect yourself or overcome challenges during difficult periods. When these coping mechanisms show up in life and relationships, they frequently contribute to conflict and pain. I help individual and couples better understand themselves and make lasting change with solo or marriage counselling.

As a relationship counsellor, I help individuals, couples and families build healthy, relationships within themselves and with those around them, focusing on improving connection, communication, and conflict resolution through mindfulness and emotional regulation strategies.
Please note, as of September 15, 2023 I have moved to Suite 502, 933 17th Ave. S.W., Calgary AB T2T 5R6. Relationships have different seasons and cycles. Challenges can arise however when great sex (or any intimacy at all) is a distant memory, communication becomes stuck, and a feeling of closeness is longed for again. These are all signs that a different approach is needed to end the frustration and created a renewed aliveness. The desire for intimacy, to feel connected, and to matter are key aspects of who we are as human beings.

I have a passion working with individuals, couples and families with children of all ages and stages. Every person has a need to feel heard, seen, and capable. Therapy can be a benefit when you feel previous coping methods may have become exhausted or no longer work the way they did. This is when a fresh lens can lead to a new perspective and inspired action. Mental health matters, and I invite you to make it a priority in your life and the lives of your loved ones.

This is why I’m passionate about providing a safe(r), compassionate, and accepting space for individuals and couples to explore their feelings, thoughts and actions more deeply.
Life is a complex experience, and you know that first-hand. You know you want things to be different, you’re craving change, but maybe you just don’t know how to get there. I know what it’s like to be always trying to make sense of painful life experiences. It wasn’t until I reconciled with my trauma that I could put the puzzle pieces together. With non-judgmental support to redefine myself, I was finally able to break the patterns that were keeping me from my authentic/true self in order to build the life I wanted.

My techniques are informed by strength- based, relationship- centered and trauma- informed methods with a priority on going at your pace.
Struggling with a traumatic event, mental health and/ or addictions can feel like drowning in unseen waves; the waves of grief, anxiety, anger, fear, trauma, relational concerns, transitions, or self-worth. We try to soothe ourselves by acting out on ourselves, and others or engaging in behaviours that harm us and those we love. I believe that we can hold fragility and resilience, courage and fear, uncertainty and hope. You can begin the process of rebuilding and reclaiming all while staying afloat. Together, we will begin to anticipate those waves coming and not get pulled under but rather negotiate them with resounding courage.
My techniques are informed by strength- based, relationship- centered and trauma- informed methods with a priority on going at your pace.

Couples Counselling
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
