We have the ability to find our best answers. Sometimes those answers have been lost amongst all the other pieces of our lives and it can be a challenge to discover them. As your therapist and companion I support you as you identify and choose which pieces serve you and which get left behind. With attention, I get to know you, your values and beliefs, and this allows us to develop the approach that is tailored to you, your life, your future.

For me, well-being comes from the knowledge that no matter what life throws at you, you have the tools you need to courageously and compassionately face it. It comes from knowing that you have the strength and ability to cope with any uncertainty. And, we can face and get through anything when we know how to support ourselves. Many of us were not taught the skills or given the tools we need to get through life’s challenges. Nor were we taught how to treat ourselves in a loving, supportive way. We can change this.

In life we are often faced with different challenges that we need to navigate through. Sometimes we need a safe place to breath, re-group, and give ourselves permission to look at where we have come, where we are now and where we want to head using the wisdom our past has taught us. Sometimes we find ourselves cycling around the same life problems and we know it is time to change how we are stepping into those relationships either with ourselves or others. Whether you are experiencing difficulty with transitions in life, grief, relationship challenges, mental health concerns, or addiction, I want to help you.

Life is hard! We may be faced with challenges from the time we are young, and sometimes the struggles come later in life. Sometimes we lose ourselves along the way. The good news is that things can change and you are already stronger and wiser than you realize! I believe in the power of human resiliency and people’s capacity for personal growth. You are the expert on your own life, and whether you are working to heal from a past trauma, trying to improve your relationship skills, overcome struggles with anxiety or depression, increase your sense of self-worth, dealing with a loss, or just working to find yourself again. I can help!

We all carry multiple stories about our selves, our lives, and our experiences. There are parts in our stories that are sometimes hidden from our awareness. It is in the calm noticing, re-discovery, and re-telling of our stories that we can find and connect with parts of ourselves that may need healing, and also parts of ourselves that are insightful, strong, and brilliant even in the midst of hardship and darkness. Through facilitating, witnessing, and holding space together, we can engage in our personal work of healing. I look forward to connecting with you.

This wasn’t the way it was supposed to be. You want to appear like you have it “all together”, but deep down you are anything but! Stressed out, anxious and full of self-doubt, you feel alone and overwhelmed as you struggle with unexpected challenges. Clients come to me looking for a therapist who has clinical experience and life experience because therapy should be a place where you feel safely guided by someone who can offer ideas and strategies when you feel stuck.

My ideal client is someone who acknowledges that their life is in need of some changes. Someone who continues to make the same mistakes over due to not having any other coping mechanisms. Someone who is eager to explore their negative habits and life patterns- and someone who is willing to share/reflect on their struggles with me. My ideal client is someone who is looking for healthy coping strategies and is willing to put in the work! It is not easy- but it will be worth it, I promise you that. You are worth it!

I aim to be an unusual therapist. I harness imagination, energy, enthusiasm, poetry, and humour in my effort to understand your story and elevate your voice. Whether you are considering the past, the present, or the future, I believe that therapeutic conversations can expand the options, responses, and actions we have available to us to heal ourselves heart, mind, and spirit. It is a privilege to come alongside you and join you in this journey. I practice the art of paying attention, which means what you say to me and who you are-is extremely important. I will work hard during our time together to listen, to understand, and to help.

My background is in systems theory; the idea that everyone is connected to those around them, with influence between all those people, organizations, and cultures. My approach to therapy is primarily Cognitive Behavioral Therapy but I also see a need for insight into the meaning that we make/have made of things and how that impacts our present. Therapy then, involves opening space for a person to increase awareness of their own process and to see alternative perspectives, thereby empowered to make different life decisions. It is so exciting to see someone realize that they have the power to change their perspective and their life!

Seeking therapy takes courage, and I understand that it (and life) can feel overwhelming. My approach focuses on creating a non-judgmental and safe space for you to explore your story and life experiences with curiosity and compassion. My goal is to help you trust and connect with Self, align with the values that guide your choices, take on new challenges, and become self-led in your interactions with the world. We will learn effective coping skills, identify patterns, systems think, and build on your strengths. Change IS hard, AND (I believe) you have the power and innate wisdom to grow, change, and create the life you long for.

Struggling with a traumatic event, mental health and/ or addictions can feel like drowning in unseen waves; the waves of grief, anxiety, anger, fear, trauma, relational concerns, transitions, or self-worth. We try to soothe ourselves by acting out on ourselves, and others or engaging in behaviours that harm us and those we love. I believe that we can hold fragility and resilience, courage and fear, uncertainty and hope. You can begin the process of rebuilding and reclaiming all while staying afloat. Together, we will begin to anticipate those waves coming and not get pulled under but rather negotiate them with resounding courage.

The world has become an increasingly complicated and challenging place and, as a result, you may have noticed uncomfortable thoughts and feelings are getting in the way of living your best life. You or your child may be faced with symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, or sleeping difficulties. You may have noticed increased difficulties in your interpersonal relationships such as a decline in communication and connection, and an increase in conflict. Whether you are seeking individual support for you or your child, or couples counselling for your relationship - you don't have to face these challenges on your own.
