In our practice, we support people in reducing or eliminating their chronic pain, chronic symptoms, depression, anxiety, or trauma symptoms. We know dealing with chronic pain, symptoms, and mental health concerns is really difficult, and often we don't see a path forward towards healing. We ensure that each client we see is provided with treatment that best matches who they are and what their concerns are. Our therapists are friendly, caring, and relatable.

I enjoy working with children, pre-teens, and adolescents (ages 5-18) as well as with young adults and parents. I specialize in depression, anxiety, self-esteem, emotional regulation, ADHD, family/peer relationship difficulties, life transitions, academic issues, perfectionism, and trauma-related concerns. I feel that it is important to develop a secure, trusting connection with my clients so that they feel comfortable discussing their concerns, exploring what help they need, to gain some insight, and to work with me on addressing these issues. I feel that the client is the expert and I offer a supportive, nonjudgement approach.

If you're experiencing worry, stress, anxiety, depression, challenges during conception/pregnancy/postpartum, life transitions, relationship issues, separation/divorce, or grief & loss—let's chat so we can make life more manageable for you.
Feeling overwhelmed lately? I want to hear about the hard stuff life’s been throwing your way. I get it—sometimes, it’s a lot. Eventually, the hard stuff can start to affect the way we think, feel, and act. Sometimes we start to feel disconnected from our true selves, and our relationships. I create a safe space for you to explore and process what is going on for you. With support, you can realize that you are not alone, and change is possible. I meet you where you’re at, and we move forward from there.

You're overwhelmed and second-guessing everything. Often you feel like a failure and an imposter and wonder how you got here. Some days you’re the man you want to be, and others, you’re barely holding it all together. There are days when you feel lost, hopeless, and lacking direction. Stress, anxiety, fear, anger, and even depression are negatively impacting your relationships, your work, and your sense of confidence. You want so much more from your life but are not sure how to get there.

I'll help you navigate challenging feelings and painful memories while exploring practical tools to help manage the anxiety that often comes with them.
You feel anxious, disconnected and overwhelmed. It often feels like you experience things "too much" and "too deeply". You're ready to learn to hold space for all of your emotions and feel more present in your life. You're used to prioritizing others needs over your own and seek more balance and reciprocity in your relationships. After everything you’ve been through, you’re ready to move beyond old survival tools and start making choices that feel more aligned with your values and rediscover yourself. You’re looking to strengthen communication, improve your connection, and find more fulfillment in your relationships.

I offer counselling to people that are highly sensitive and highly empathic. Many of my clients are intuitive and seem to know things and see things that others aren't aware of. This often leaves them feeling out of place, isolated, and unsure if they can trust themselves. A common issue is being in relationships where you over give but are told you are not doing enough. This can lead to overthinking, overanalyzing, anxiety, depression, and low-self esteem. You might know what you want to do, what you want to say but get stuck because of the worry of hurting the other person's feelings.

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioural therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioural Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
