I have experience working with individuals who have been coping with trauma, grief, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders and schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
In challenging times such as those we are experiencing today, it is only normal to feel overwhelmed, anxious, angry and sad. Our world and the life we knew have changed. Some of us lost their jobs, some of us lost activities which were close to their hearts, some of us lost their dreams and plans, and some of us lost their loved ones. Covid-19 constitutes a universal struggle, and it also imposes additional distress for some of us who were already coping with mental health issues. While Covid-19 forces distance, you don't need to be alone with your pain. I believe that every struggle is also an opportunity for personal growth.

I take a relational and collaborative approach to support clients who are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, and identity.
Many of us have periods in life when we need support to cope with life and/or to process what has happened to us in the past. I believe that reaching out for support is a strength; it is something I have done myself and find value in. I provide a safe and caring environment to work with clients in creating goals, building coping skills and self compassion, clarifying values, identifying current and building new external and internal resources. My approach is patient and calm and I believe building rapport to be an essential building block to our work together.

Hi there, I'm Tanya. I enjoy supporting youth to Millennials who are facing stress, anxiety, depression and ADHD, amongst a variety of other emotional difficulties. Life has been difficult, especially throughout these unprecedented times, and can result in troubles with worrying, focus and attention, low self-esteem, feelings of isolation, relationship issues, and overwhelming negative thoughts. It's not easy. The good news is that despite these difficulties, counselling can help turn the tide around; it offers a safe space to gain new insights, coping skills, and confidence to overcome challenges and start feeling better.

I have experience dealing with various issues, including grief, trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions, and relationship problems.
Counselling can be seen as planting a seed that, with nurturing and attention, will grow into something beautiful. Every individual is akin to a seed that undergoes continual growth, advancing through each fleeting season filled with moments of happiness, sorrows, triumphs, bravery, disappointments, and fresh starts. Like seeds, humans require sources and resources to aid them in reaching their full potential, such as sunlight, rain, and soil. And just like every seed holds importance, every human being also possesses inherent value. By choosing to seek counseling, you have taken the first step towards transformation.

My training was founded in experiential therapy, which effectively treats trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse, neglect, addictions, etc.
I describe myself as a transformational therapist not because it is trendy but because my approach is centred on transformation. Each of us has an internal drive towards healing; we seek to be better than "fine." We all experienced trauma in one form or another, no parent who has ever lived could meet every need we had as children. We all have parts of ourselves that we have cut off, disowned, or devalued. In therapy, we work together to construct a new experience, allowing you to reclaim who you truly are.

We are not meant to do the tough stuff alone; I strongly believe in the importance of human connection and its necessity for healing. I understand the struggles that can arise from carrying the weight of life's challenges. During these times, it can be helpful to seek support with a counsellor to help you process, explore, and heal. I am a Master’s level Registered Social Worker and have been working in the field for over 11 years. I hold particular interest in the areas of grief, anxiety, depression, relationships, life transitions, and trauma.

Stress can impact the whole person and trauma can turn one’s world upside down. Sexual and physical assault, combat, medical traumas or serious accidents are all examples of traumatic events that can cause an array of distressing symptoms. Anxiety, depression, flashbacks, nightmares along with nausea, and chronic fatigue are common and can wreak havoc on relationships. Sometimes feelings of horror, anger, sadness can seem to come out of nowhere making people feel like they are going “crazy.” But they are not. These are symptoms of trauma, and specialized evidence base treatment can help.

This is not how you imagined your maternity leave. Instead of feeling happy like you’re supposed to, you are anxious and always on the verge of tears. There’s a constant nagging feeling like you’re not good enough for your baby. And let’s not talk about the exhaustion. It scares you to hold your baby, but at the same time you can’t let go. So, you end up holding her during nap times…and never find the time to attend to our own needs. When you look in the mirror, it’s like you are looking at a stranger. It is no longer a matter of doing your best, it’s about surviving this season of life. Or is this how it will be forever?
