With extensive experience in both psychology and human resources, I am your first choice in helping you on your road to success. I have a broad area of practice: I work as a counseling psychologist with individuals, couples and families with many types of life concerns. I also conduct career assessments for people making educational and occupational decisions, or for managers and employees seeking coaching.

Personally, I know what it's like to grow up in a difficult family which resulted in many traumas. As a young adult, I made a series of problematic choices including abusive relationships, alcohol and drug abuse, and general neglect of myself. I realized that what had happened to me was not my fault but healing from it, so that I no longer suffered and passed that suffering onto others, was my responsibility. My wellness journey has been long and hard fought, continues today and will forever more. My hope is to share both my personal and professional knowledge and experiences with you to help guide you on your own healing journey.

How often in our daily lives do we pause to listen and pay attention to our deepest needs and desires? Do we acknowledge what might be missing (or already there) and identify and mobilize those resources that could help us live a wholesome, satisfying life? As a psychologist, I create a judgement-free space where people are supported in answering those questions. I view counselling as a space where we can unpack the messiness of life and be encouraged to make changes in the pursuit of joy, health, and balance.

Challenges and suffering are a part of everyone’s journey. To be human is to feel the full range of emotions - the good, the bad and the ugly. But emotions can be confusing and cause a great of distress. I can help you understand what you're feeling and why you're feeling it, so you can use your emotions as a guide to living a full and meaningful life. When you sit across from me, you get an authentic, genuine person. I’ll laugh with you and cry with you. Because there is power in being able to share your emotional experience with someone, so you know you’re not alone.

I obtained a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, with a specialization in Law and Forensic Psychology, and have extensive experience and specialized training in the area of assessment, both in clinical and forensic settings. Many of the individuals I work with have never had contact with a mental health professional or found that the previous treatment they engaged in was unhelpful. Many also say they are aware something is "off" but not sure what to do. I enjoy working with clients to clarify the symptoms and concerns they are experiencing through a comprehensive psychological assessment to enhance their well-being.

Maybe you never feel enough, and what "enough" even looks like may feel uncertain. You might be exhausted from feeling the guilt and shame you don't know how to talk about. Perhaps you think your overwhelming past experiences will never leave you. I work with folks who long to accept and connect with themselves & others but feel stuck and in a loop of self-criticism. As a Korean-Canadian Psychologist with many intersecting identities, I also understand and work with many personal and systemic challenges faced by BIPOC & LGBTQ+ communities. I offer care, skills, and insights to support your growth and discovery of new possibilities.

Coming to therapy can be uncomfortable, especially for men. We're rarely taught how to talk about our feelings, or that it's even acceptable to share them. Whether as individuals, or as part of a couple, I provide an environment where you can talk openly, without shame or embarrassment. When working with couples, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help partners improve their connection. I ensure that both partners feel safe, acknowledging that it's often male partners who feel the most vulnerable in therapy.
