Sharon M. Batista M.D.
Sharon M. Batista, M.D., is a board-certified psychiatrist working in private practice in New York City. Dr. Batista completed her undergraduate degree at Harvard University, psychiatry residency training at the Mount Sinai Hospital, and fellowship training at New York University. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine where she teaches psychotherapy techniques in the psychiatry residency program.
In addition to general adult psychiatry, Dr. Batista has expertise in the fields of telepsychiatry, psychiatry for the medically ill (also known as Consultation-Liaison psychiatry), psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavior therapy. She is a fellow of and former treasurer of the American Medical Women’s Association, a Founding Member of the Leadership Council of the American Medical Women’s Association, a member of the American Psychiatric Association and a Trustee of the American Academy of Psychodynamic Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis.
Dr. Batista holds board certifications in Psychiatry, Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, and Addiction Medicine. She has authored several publications and articles including the Handbook of AIDS Psychiatry (Oxford University Press, 2010). Dr. Batista provides consultation and treatment to patients in the state of New York and is available for consultation via telepsychiatry in several other states.
