Laura Copley, Ph.D., LPC, is a mental health therapist and an expert in relationship trauma and post-traumatic growth. Based in the Shenandoah Valley, she runs a clinical practice where she specializes in trauma bonds and creating healthier, more intimate connections. Dr. Copley is the author of Loving You is Hurting Me: A New Approach to Healing Trauma Bonds and Creating Authentic Connection, which addresses ways to heal complex trauma and teaches readers how to cultivate positive transformation and post-traumatic growth in their personal lives and relationships. She also hosts the podcast "Tough Love with Dr. Laura Copley," taking deep dives into emotional resilience and recovery.
Dr. Copley earned a Ph.D. from The Pennsylvania State University and a certification in Positive Psychology through UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center. She has contributed scholarly articles to The Journal of Mental Health Counseling and The Journal of Humanistic Counseling. Throughout her career, she has taught graduate students at an R1 research institution, where she also supervised and trained master-level counselors.
