Lots Going On

A few lame excuses for not posting more.

I'm afraid I've been lazy about updating this blog over the past few months. Sorry about that. Here are some of the things I've been up to:

  • Last summer in Vancouver, I developed a TV show idea with my friend, Pete McCormack, who is a documentary film-maker. (Check out Facing Ali and I am Bruce Lee, his two latest—fantastic—films.) Honestly, I thought Pete was a bit delusional in thinking anyone would want to make a TV show around my thoughts on human sexuality, but it seems I was wrong. So I've been in LA meeting with production companies interested in putting this show together. I think it'll be called Sex Drive: Turn on the Truth. Sort of an Anthony Bourdain approach to human sexuality. Still not a done deal, but moving along.
  • I've been working on my podcast, called Tangentially Speaking. You can download it from iTunes or at feralaudio.com. I've had some fantastic guests thus far, ranging from the world-famous to the unknown, but everyone has been very open and generous about sharing their stories with me and my audience.
  • I've been appearing on other podcasts and media. In fact, this week, I was on Joe Rogan's podcast twice! Joe's podcast has one of the largest audiences in the world (over a million downloads per episode). It was a real honor for me to be invited back, especially for the second show, where I introduced one of my closest friends to Joe. Stanley Krippner was my professor in graduate school. He's known throughout the world for his knowledge of shamanism, consciousness studies, dream research and so on. It was amazing to watch Stanly and Joe hit it off so well. You can watch their conversation here, or listen to it here. My conversation with comedian, Ari Shaffir also went live this week. You can hear that here.
  • Still no word on when my TED talk will be posted, but you can read about it here, if you're interested.

I'll try to get back to more regular updates here, but if you'd like to keep up with my projects, you can follow me on Twitter (@chrisryanphd), sign up for my newsletter at my site (chrisryanphd.com) or on Facebook (I have a Sex at Dawn page I regularly update with interesting research related to human sexuality). Thanks, and Happy Easter!
