The Miracles of Mentoring (Book Review)

Reviews the book 'The Miracles of Mentoring,' by Thomas W. Dortch Jr.

100 Black Men of America, a nonprofit mentoring group, aspires "to helpas many young people as possible to benefit from having someone to look up to." In his new book, Thomas W. Dortch Jr., president of the organization, seems equally intent on promoting both the organization and mentoring. Nevertheless, he cites evidence that mentoring does work--mentored children are more likely to do well in school, pursue postsecondary education and stay off drugs--and attempts to offer "sensible, practical advice on all aspects of mentoring."
