I'm a holistic counsellor & psychotherapist, and my work centres around helping clients make sense and meaning of their life story, and to integrate the many parts of ourselves. I work with people who may be feeling lost, stuck or out of alignment in their lives and relationships. You may be feeling overwhelmed by world issues as well as personal ones, perhaps feeling a deep sense of grief, loss or fear about the environmental crisis or around social injustice issues. I also work with people looking to do shadow work or to process and integrate psychedelic experiences.

My clients often question their relationship with alcohol, even if they don't identify as alcoholics. Usually binge drinking and high functioning drinking is the main presenting issue. I provide a safe, non-judgmental, confidential space to discuss their concerns, free from shame and stigma. Their goals vary: quitting, taking a break, or addressing current challenges. Many face depression, anxiety, or difficult life events. Some clients are French speakers - not always coming because of alcohol addiction. Regardless, understanding and empathy are central to my approach.

Life is so busy and demanding, it can leave us drained and overwhelmed. You may have no time or energy for yourself. Sometimes you overreact to small things, other times you just feel shut down. You’re not living the life you want to live - but you just “keep on keeping on”, and you feel stuck. You want to feel more energised and in love with life. You want to live a life that is true to yourself, and to give your best - to yourself and to the people you care about. You want to be free to grow, to evolve, and to flourish!

I am a practiced counsellor, with a specialised interest in attachment trauma. The way our early life experiences create a blueprint for our relationships that may no longer be serving us in our adult circumstance. Unresolved attachment trauma can cause us to repeat the same painful relationship patterns until we go back to the source and heal the original wounding. My job is to build a comfortable and safe space for you to explore any issues that may be holding you back from creating the life and connections you long for in all your relationships, especially the one with yourself.

My focus is client centred, and over the years I have learned a great deal about human behaviour with particular regards to depression and trauma. I focus heavily on self compassion and the defences that can stop us from moving forward. Expect a down to earth, empathic and humanistic approach when you work with me.

I specialise in supporting high-achieving, sensitive women with big emotions, busy minds and sensitive nervous systems.
You're a high-functioning woman with big dreams, dee emotions, a brilliant, busy mind that never stops and a sensitive soul. You find the world overwhelming at times and don't know how others seem to do it with ease. You're curious about your inner world, self-reflection and nurturing your inner child. I'd love to help you get back your emotional well-being while valuing your sensitivity. I work in a unique guided, somatic way that will guide you in-wards to a compassionate journey to meet all parts of you. We'd work well together if you think CBT/ talk therapy only scratched the surface and you're ready to go deeper.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
