The key to successful therapy is the therapeutic relationship you and I develop over time. I know that you need to be seen, heard, validated and be able to trust me so I can provide you a safe trauma-informed care and practice. This model focuses on providing you with a safe space to explore and understand your life. I ask 'What happened to you?' and I bear witness to your story. I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner (Consultant in training), Internal Family Systems Therapist (Level 2-Addictions), and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner (in training Advanced). I have also been a Program Assistant on IFSI trainings in Australia.

I have been working as a Counsellor and Psychotherapist in Private Practice since 2011. My aim is to create spaces of trust for clients to explore the intricacy of their own lives, to identify the fullness and complexity of their experience, to come to terms with themselves, and to release behaviour which no longer serves them. My work is Humanistic, Person Centred and Emotion Focused, and I use the integrative approaches of my training as entry points for us to language, feel, and honour, all that we carry deeply within us.

If you are already checking this, it means that a part of you is ready to be transformed, I´m here to assist you in that process. My most important objective is to provide you with a safe and professional space to go to the roots of your symptoms, not only the surface. In that way, changes being made are most likely to remain.

My wealth of lived experiences including gender transition inform my collaborative client centred counselling approach. Whilst presenting issues may include depression, anxiety, identity incongruence, dysphoria, trauma, interpersonal challenges, addiction, loneliness, and more, I seek to work with the underlying causes as I believe that through addressing the root causes of the presenting symptoms that psychological wellbeing can be achieved without judgement or further pathologisation.

My practice is focused on supporting individuals & couples through life’s toughest moments—whether it's anxiety, depression, trauma, identity struggles, or relationship problems. I understand these struggles often run deep, rooted in early attachments, major life changes, or the pain of grief—whether it’s for a loved one, a relationship, or even a dream that never came to be. My passion is in standing alongside those who feel marginalised—whether by race, gender, sexuality, or chronic conditions like diabetes. I believe each person’s story is uniquely their own, and I tailor my approach to honour that individuality with compassion.

Dissociative Disorders (DID) Counsellors

How does therapy for dissociative disorders work?

Dissociation may be triggered by stress or other upsetting circumstances, and therapy can address the traumatic events at the core of an individual’s dissociation. Understanding why a person may dissociate can help the therapist and the individual come up with alternative methods of coping. A person with a dissociative disorder may get stuck on negative thinking, for example, and treatment like Cognitive behavioural therapy is a gold standard for breaking such thinking. And dialectical behaviour therapy, for example, can help a person manage their anguish through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for dissociative disorders?

Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioural, dialectical behaviour, psychodynamic, schema therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful memories and past traumas. These therapies work to integrate an individual's different identities into one person.

Are there specific medications for dissociation?

There are no specific medications prescribed for dissociative disorders. However, psychosis, depression, anxiety, and/or panic often co-occur in dissociative disorders. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for any accompanying symptom which may include antipsychotics, antidepressants, or anti-anxiety drugs.

How often and how long are therapy sessions?

Like any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. There are still other patients, especially those who have co-occurring conditions like depression and anxiety, who may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months.
