Catherine seeks to understand her client’s experiences and their reasons for seeking therapy. She works collaboratively with her clients to support them to develop a greater connection to, and compassion for, all aspects of themselves. The importance of establishing trusting, compassionate and curious relationships with her clients is the bedrock of Catherine’s practice. Rather than viewing her clients’ challenges as ‘problems to be fixed’, Catherine provides her clients a safe space within which to heal unresolved emotional wounds and discover new and exciting ways of relating and being in the world.

Typically, my clients have been to therapy many times before, but don't quite get to the bottom of their problems. They have tried the traditional methods of therapy that promote coping, but feel disheartened when they inevitably fall back into their old habits. Often they appear fine on the outside, but every day is a struggle. There is a big feeling of stuckness, or that 'something isn't right'. It's often hard to say exactly what is wrong. The words 'anxiety' and 'depression' don't seem to properly explain things. There may be a history of bad relationships, or struggling to accept love. Despite all this, they haven't given up.

Undertaking therapy is a very personal experience. Whether it's to process complex trauma, work through relationship struggles, or simply from a desire to get to know oneself more deeply. Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, the gifts born from the process of building this inner connect benefit not only you but also those around you. It is profoundly humbling to support my clients to move through adversity, unpack challenging questions, grieve, transition, and move towards wellbeing. I am a registered psychologist with experience in both therapeutic and corporate psychology. I provide empathetic, warm and holistic support to clients who are navigating life challenges, such as anxiety, low mood, managing chronic health conditions or pain, relationship problems, low self-esteem or self-worth, or managing transitions. Clients I work with often find themselves overwhelmed and uncertain about the next steps. I collaborate with them to re-establish a connection with themselves, identify their desires and needs, and together, we chart a course towards achieving those goals, and take it step by step.

I work as a clinical psychologist and practice upon a foundation of empathy and authenticity. To embrace vulnerability is terrifying, so I prioritise creating a supportive safe space with my clients to move towards recovery goals. I am passionate about shifting the ‘hush-hush’ discourse around vulnerabilities with mental health, and empowering individuals to embrace the human nature to experience difficulties.

I am a trauma therapist and work with you to understand the impacts of the trauma and towards resolution of these impacts. I have a special interest in working with adults on their attachment wounding or ruptures in relationships. This might have happened during a persons childhood, however the patterns play out in intimate relationships, friendships, with work colleagues and our kids. My clients often find that their attachment patterns continue to resurface in their current relationships. They recognise that healing is not just about talk therapy, but involves deeper work and a somatic approach.

My approach is rooted in honesty, empathy, and a non-judgmental perspective. Clients often describe me as warm, open-minded, humorous, and genuinely caring.

Every person is unique, and we each experience life’s challenges in our own way. While similar situations may touch our lives, our responses to them are deeply personal and complex. I believe that therapy should reflect this individuality—there is no one-size-fits-all solution. My approach is tailored to meet you where you are, recognizing that what works for one person may not work for another, even if they’ve faced the same circumstances. Together, we’ll explore your needs, strengths, and goals to find the path that feels right for you.

I am sensitive to the lived experiences, diversity and complexity of the LGBTQIA+ community. I am sex-positive and aim to create a space that is inclusive, non-judgemental and able to hold different lives and cultures. We will find this space together. My practice is informed by a long interest in yoga (ashtanga vinyasa), meditation (insight/vipassana) and buddhism (mostly zen). I am interested in the spiritual journey and the existential and deeply personal questions this throws up – particularly when this intersects with being queer. I am also interested in how we construct (and sometimes deconstruct) our ‘working selves’.
