I have been privileged to meet people from all walks of life who have added so much value to both my personal and professional development. I have worked within the Community Services and Mental Health Services Sector now for approximately 19 years. Over this time, I have met and supported people living in nursing homes who were at their end stage of life, people with differing abilities, and individuals that are confined within the Victorian prison system. I have also facilitated men’s behaviour change programs for both mandated and non-mandated members, supporting them to understand the differences between abusive and non-abusive

Life has its tough times and big challenges. It doesn't mean we have a mental health issue if we need a bit of extra support to navigate a tough time or work through problems in our relationship. It simply means we're human! I provide individual and couples counselling in the Macedon Ranges. I take a truly calming and compassionate approach and ensure your comfort at all times. Speaking to a counsellor can really help us to gain perspective and insight, and to process our complex emotions, enabling us to feel heard and understood, then to take the next step forward - whether as an individual or as a couple.

Are you in midlife and thinking "is this really all there is?" It's more common than you think and especially around 40 or 50+. We hit the big milestones of supposedly having life sorted but all you feel is stuck or at least lacking in joy or direction and slowly starting to panic that life is slipping away. Whatever the thoughts are if they persist unaddressed, they just fester inside. We all know that feeling of stuffing thoughts and feelings down because they are too uncomfortable. Maybe soothing them with food, alcohol or doomscrolling. Life can get a lot better by talking and sharing what's going on for you deep down.

I come to the therapeutic space with a deep curiosity about life and the people I meet there, their stories, their lives, their relationships with others and most importantly with themselves. I join with you and guide you to discover the more hidden parts of yourself that you haven’t yet explored or have only touched on. Perhaps there’s a difficult or recurring issue from your personal or professional life that you would like to address. It could be grief, loss, depression, anxiety, addiction, dissociation, historical or current trauma, life transition, identity or relationship issues, or even existential questions and concerns.

Do you experience the impact of past trauma in your day to day life? Do you experience flashbacks, nightmares, or are triggered by certain things associated with memories from events that happened in the past? I can help you to understand your autonomic nervous system and why you experience defensive reactions such as fight, flight and freeze in certain situations long after the traumatic event happened. I can help you to recognise when the triggers impact your nervous system and your reaction to them. We can work towards returning the trauma to the past where it belongs, and restore your felt sense of safety.

Female Counsellors
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
