I work with adults and young adults to provide support through difficult periods, including anxiety and mood issues, transitions in life, relationship issues, identity and mental health problems. I can provide ADHD assessments to adults. I see my role and strength as a therapist as understanding the unique felt experience of each person I see. This forms the basis of our work together and the place from which we make sense of the difficulties that bring you to therapy.

Play based parent child sessions can be really impactful way of helping you connect with your child to work through inner feelings, and process what might be challenging in your relationship. It is often really tough for children to express what's going on for them using words, and this is often why they find ways to communicate with us through their behaviour. This can be a little scary and overwhelming for us as caregivers, who may just be needing things to become a little easier at home. I work collaboratively and authentically with you and your child through the safety of play, where I draw on your wisdom, love, and knowledge.

I'm passionate about supporting women in midlife because I was once there! Despite having a seemingly perfect life, I felt exhausted, resentful, uninspired, overwhelmed, and lonely.
Feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or anxious? Lost sight of who you are beyond being a mum, wife, employee, daughter, and friend? Looking for more joy, purpose, and meaning? Unsure of your path forward and need someone to talk to and cheer you on? I work with women seeking more from life, aiming to improve relationships and set boundaries. Together, we can untangle your feelings, clarify your desires, and navigate your challenges. I'll support you in taking action and stepping into a life you love!

Hi, I specialise in relationship issues, stress and anxiety. There is nothing more upsetting than when we are not feeling emotionally connected to our partner. Some people report a gradual drifting apart while others can pinpoint an event that has damaged the relationship and some are caught in a cycle of conflict, Part of being human is our need to feel safe and understood by our partner, to know they are there for us when we need them. Whatever your challenge I will support you to re-connect, repair and deepen your relationship and or deal with stress or anxiety that impacts your contentment.

Being a passionate advocate for non-directive Child-Centred Play Therapy, an approach which is backed by neuroscience and is strictly evidence based, I specialise in working therapeutically with families of children of 2-10 years old to support their child towards their full potential. I recognise the importance of facilitating parents with their involvement in the child's therapy by helping them to become therapeutic agents for their children. I have a special interest integrating this in therapy with children on the Autism Spectrum and with other developmental issues.

Hi, I'm Andrea, and I love my work as a psychologist. As the Buddhist philosophy goes, 'Life is Pain'—and truly, nobody gets through this journey completely unscathed from hurt, frustration, worry, anger, and more. So, if all of this Ick is so inevitable, then what's the point, right? Well, my work with clients is all about figuring out ways to transform that pain into a stepping stone for growth and passion, helping you move toward a life that feels more fulfilling and joyful.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
