Seeking counselling can feel overwhelming. Years of working with young people have taught me to slow down and respect what is in front of me. I offer services that comfort people and assist them to build their skills, even when they don't think they can. I work to assist people to feel less overwhelmed and better equipped to cope with life stressors.

Are you feeling anxious, depressed or just cannot make sense of things. Everyone can have therapy at anytime in life. Talking to someone who listens, remembers your history, travels with you on your journey can be rewarding and help with anxiety, depression and feelings of being alone. I can help you make sense of your life, meaning and troubling thoughts. I am also an experienced couples therapist having supported couples on their journeys from courting to commitment. I help people make sense of where they have come to, going to and how they are going to get there even when the future is uncertain.

Hi, I'm Kelly. I am a therapist with a special interest in working with people living with disabilities and chronic health conditions – especially neurological and acquired disabilities. We know that people living with disabilities are more at risk of experiencing mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety. You might have seen a mental health professional before, but felt that they just “didn’t get it”. You might find yourself having to explain your condition over and over again, or explaining to your therapist why something they've suggested isn’t practical for you to implement.

Reclaim the joy of family mealtimes! Next to breathing, feeding is the first and most important thing we have to do in life, connected to almost every other aspect of a child’s life and development, occuring multiple times a day, everyday. No human behaviour has greater biological and social significance. We're available internationally for paediatric feeding disorders (PFD), avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), baby bottle or feeding tube dependence (tube weaning), food selectivity ('picky'/'fussy' eaters), mealtime behaviour, skills (utensils, cup drinking, chewing), medication refusal, and pica.

Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Counsellors

When should someone seek treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

People should seek a diagnosis and treatment after a head injury, especially if they were unconscious, and an early diagnosis can lead to a better recovery. Signs of a concussion include headaches, nausea or vomiting, exhaustion, dizziness, vision problems, sensitivity to light and sound, problems with attention and memory, brain fog, unusual irritability or sadness, and unusual sleep patterns.

What’s the most common treatment for a traumatic brain injury?

Treatment for a traumatic brain injury will be different depending on the severity of the problem. For mild injuries, treatment may involve rest and over-the-counter pain or headache medication. For moderate or severe injuries, treatment may involve stabilisation, medication, and rehabilitative therapies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, cognitive therapy, and counselling.

How long does it take to recover from traumatic brain injury?

The recovery time for a traumatic brain injury depends on the individual and the severity and nature of the injury; the length of time spent unconscious is often an indicator of severity. Recovery time for mild injuries may be a week or two while recovery time for more severe injuries may be six months to two years. Research suggests that the vast majority of recovery occurs in the first two years after an injury; recovery after that time frame is less certain.

What if a traumatic brain injury is left untreated?

If a traumatic brain injury is left untreated, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health problems. Physical problems may include dizziness, headaches, vision, healing, or speech loss, and an elevated risk of dementia. Psychological problems may include impairments of memory, judgment, and decision-making, depression, aggression, poor impulse control, and personality changes.
