We explore helpful ways to change our patterns of thinking, which influence our feelings and our behavior.
No matter what your current situation looks like, we can work together to find meaningful pathways leading to health and well-being. I enjoy working with guys that wrestle with questions of life, meaning, and purpose. We all experience unfulfilled desires to be heard and to be understood. Whether it is struggling with a yearning to be affirmed, or just to be respected. At times we get caught up in a rut and struggle to break the patterns. often affecting our relationships. Some of us are bound up by unhealthy habits. Let's work together to see health and beauty take hold in these spaces.

Reclaim the joy of family mealtimes! Next to breathing, feeding is the first and most important thing we have to do in life, connected to almost every other aspect of a child’s life and development, occuring multiple times a day, everyday. No human behaviour has greater biological and social significance. We're available internationally for paediatric feeding disorders (PFD), avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), baby bottle or feeding tube dependence (tube weaning), food selectivity ('picky'/'fussy' eaters), mealtime behaviour, skills (utensils, cup drinking, chewing), medication refusal, and pica.

Seeking counselling can feel overwhelming. Years of working with young people have taught me to slow down and respect what is in front of me. I offer services that comfort people and assist them to build their skills, even when they don't think they can. I work to assist people to feel less overwhelmed and better equipped to cope with life stressors.

eunoia was developed out of a deep desire to recapture connection, beauty and meaning in the everyday. Many people (adults, adolescents and children alike), can appear to be trapped in unfulfillment; whether it's by circumstances, limited thinking or unmanageable emotions. I work with people from all ages and backgrounds who want to commit to a healing journey where they address issues in their past and present as well as dream how to live a more Soul-led, Self-led future. In Eco-Soulcentred therapy we explore the parts of your own inner ecosystem AND the outer ecosystem that you live in (relationship, family, work, community, society, earth). The focus will be on encouraging you to listen deeply to your own inner wisdom, your Soul / Self, to tend to your individual and the collective wounded and protective parts, and to form secure attachments to your Soul/Self, others and to Earth.

Hi there! I'm Yvonne, a senior psychologist at Very Helpful Chats. I'm an ADHDer, LGBTQIA+ and navigate life as a spoonie. I know personally the grief, anger and then acceptance of finding out later in life why things have always been different for me. I have learnt that no two brains are the same; that's what makes humans so interesting! Knowing how your brain works is like the keys to Disneyland.

What happens in therapy for behavioural issues?
No matter the type of therapy, individuals form an alliance with the therapist; that connection is often therapeutic in itself, plus it becomes an instrument of change. Individuals learn to identify situations that are especially troublesome for them and acquire new patterns of thinking and behaving. In therapy for ADHD, one of the most common behaviour issues for children, individuals learn how to improve frustration tolerance, control impulsivity, manage attentional focus, and gain skills of self-organisation.
What therapy types help with behavioural issues?
Many types of therapy have been found effective, each targeting one or more areas of dysfunction. Perhaps best-known and most widely tested is cognitive and behavioural therapy (CBT), in which individuals learn new behavioral strategies and curb reactivity to frustrating or distressing situations that trigger disruptive behaviour. Anger, anxiety, mood disorders, impulse control problems are commonly addressed in CBT. Family therapy or parent management training is often helpful to reduce parent-child conflict and behavioral difficulties at home.
How long does therapy last for behavioural issues?
Among popular approaches to treating behavioural concerns, CBT is considered a short-term therapy intended to be administered in 15 to 20 weekly sessions. Parent training in behaviour management, often used when the underlying cause of behaviour issues is ADHD in children under 12, usually occurs in weekly sessions for 8 to 16 weeks. When behavioural issues stem from persistent aggression or defiance, therapy may last for months, and usually targets both children and their parents.
How effective is therapy for behaviour issues?
Studies show that therapy for behaviour issues in children is highly effective and may prevent the development of antisocial behaviour later in life. Family intervention—parent management training or family therapy, both of which involve parents and children together—is considered most effective, notably for children under age 12 who persistently engage in aggressive, defiant, rule-breaking or other disruptive behaviour. Whether provided alone or in combination with medication, CBT is highly effective in helping people regulate their emotions, and for people with ADHD, it addresses impulsiveness, hyperactivity and attentional focus.
