My name is Ru, and I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. I work in Thornbury, as well as online. I seek to create a space which allows the client to explore their own minds, and to be able to better understand how they wish to show up in the world. I believe psychotherapy is a powerful modality, which can assist people to work through distressing events and experiences, but also can be utilised as a tool for self-actualisation and insight. I tailor my approach according to the needs of each client and focus on a collaborative approach.
In my practice, I draw on attachment and developmental perspectives, as well as systems and psychodynamic theories. My approach is heavily guided by trauma-informed and somatic principles, as I believe that our bodies provide valuable insights into our inner experiences. Additionally, I have extensive experience in sex and consent education.
As a therapist I am warm and relational. I am experienced in work with people who are LGBTIQA+ identifying, and those who fall outside gender binaries. Some areas of focus are depression/anxiety, life transition, identity and sexuality, relational difficulties and ongoing difficulties due to trauma or stress.
