Many of us have early negative relational experiences that deeply shape our adult behaviours, often manifesting in unhelpful ways that leave us feeling stuck, misunderstood, or disconnected. These early experiences can lead to challenges in our personal or professional lives, where familiar patterns of trauma responses—such as overspending, avoidance or people-pleasing —can surface again and again. Recognizing these patterns is the first step toward understanding how they are affecting your life. While understanding these patterns can be challenging, it’s also the key to transforming them.

Hi I’m Kerry, I support and empower individuals and couples experiencing challenging life events. My approach is hope focused and heart centered. Most of my clients contact me because of relationship issues, grief, anxiety, stress, depression, self-esteem issues, or some form of midlife crisis. Clients tell me I am warm, genuine, un-judgmental, and easy to talk to. I help people uncover their own insight, strengthen self-belief, and learn practical tools and skills for living in the real world. My office is a private, confidential space, away from the busyness of shopping centers and clinical office settings.

I love working with curious humans interested not only in overcoming the challenges that life has thrown their way, but also in figuring out how to grow and thrive in the world. Many of the people I see are experiencing depression, anxiety, stress, burnout or trauma, are feeling overwhelmed by the world, are just looking for a trusted person to talk through something that has been weighing on their mind or have an important decision that they would like to make with the help of someone who isn't directly impacted by their decision (that's me!). I also offer coaching, mentoring and supervision for professionals.

Life offers us all challenges, sometimes huge, sometimes small, these challenges present themselves so that we may grow and in the process become wiser. I will support you to lean into your experiences rather than moving away from feelings, learning to befriend them and in the process develop a closer relationship with yourself and others. Developing emotional agility is a natural outcome of therapy that provides agency for change. Issues include parenting, relationships, depression, anxiety, life direction, addiction and trauma.

To be listened to is one of the most fundamental needs of a human being. If you’re feeling anxious, worried, confused, stressed, lost, lonely, don't feel good enough or have relationship issues... I am here to help. I love journeying alongside people as they find relief from struggles, achieving goals, relieving anxiety and to have more fulfilling relationships. I especially am drawn to those suffering loss in their lives. Whether it be a loved one, a job, a house or your dreams we can work together to find ways to cope, ease the pain and rediscover purpose and meaning in your life at a time when we feel there is none.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
