My clients are often grappling with anxiety, depression, trauma, or PTSD. They seek relief from emotional pain, a sense of normalcy, and improved quality of life. Their needs include a safe space to express themselves, coping strategies, and healing from past wounds. Their goals are to regain control of their emotions, build resilience, and find inner peace, ultimately wanting a fulfilling life free from the burdens of their mental health challenges. They seek support because they deserve to live a life where compassion, connection and calm prevail.

I enjoy supporting people who are becoming aware of aspects of their lives that aren't working anymore and are ready to change things :) I feel very passionate about supporting teenagers who need encouragement to be themselves. I also have a lot to provide to migrants and people who live away from their families. Helping people to understand why we feel anxious and depressed, why we may have compulsions, overeat or restrict our food, etc. are crucial aspects of my job, that I love. Becoming aware of why we experience these symptoms is the first step to change them, which we will do too.

I believe every client has within him or herself the knowledge and ability to lead a happy fulfilled life. It is up to the therapist to help and guide the client toward their discovered goals, and suggest steps to be taken. The issues can be many, but the primary criterion is that the client must have is the desire for change of some kind, whether it be a lack of something, pain or suffering, and be willing to take the steps required to achieve this change.

If you were my client, I would work with you with the attitude that you are the expert in YOU. I would work to help you to unlock the answers that you need. My job is to help you to understand the patterns of behaviours that are tripping you up in life. I come from a non judgmental position, showing empathy and warmth, enabling you to hear your own voice. Often trauma, or things that have been ones a survival reaction become a stumbling block, our own inner critical voice can keep us from trusting ourselves. My intention is to help you capture your needs and like a caterpillar learn how to fly like a butterfly.

At the heart of my approach is a firm belief in an individual’s capacity for growth. I don’t use one particular therapy pathway; my method honours individuality, using a range of strategies for the best outcomes for you personally. Increasing self awareness is our biggest opportunity to grow. Most often, when we’re experiencing something challenging, the key piece of the puzzle is understanding why we’re feeling what we’re feeling, why we’re doing what we’re doing, and why we’re experiencing what we’re experiencing. This helps us change unhelpful cycles & behaviours. My approach is effective for a range of life’s challenges.

Navigating life after a late-in-life ADHD diagnosis (whether clinically diagnosed or self-diagnosed) can often feel incredibly isolating and overwhelming. Finding the right support in a timely manner is tough, and even when you do, it might not be the right fit. You may feel frustrated when the strategies don't work or are hard to follow, leaving you wondering, "What's the point of a diagnosis if nothing changes?"

My primary focus is always on the unique needs of my clients. I understand that each individual's experience with mental health is deeply personal and varied. Therefore, I prioritize creating a safe, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients feel comfortable sharing their struggles and aspirations. By actively listening and validating their experiences, I work to build a strong therapeutic relationship that serves as the foundation for effective intervention and support. What sets me apart in my practice is my holistic and client-centered approach.

Counselling has been a very important part of my life - from conversations with close friends to the professional help received from counsellors and psychologists. In the past I have suffered from anxiety and depression and without the help of counselling would have continued to suffer. Let me assure you I have been there in the darkness. When I am able to help people, in the way I have been supported, it is incredibly rewarding. From life's little problems through to the big scary seemingly insurmountable ones I am here to listen and often that's all that's needed for you to get clarity and feel your own power.

Have you tried traditional therapies with no success? My approach is a different. Incorporating eastern and western approaches, a blend of spirituality and psychology to completely shift your perspective of yourself, your life and your purpose here. This approach is for those seeking to deepen their understanding of themselves. It will require you take stock of excuses and release barriers. It requires courage and accountability. I would be honoured to support you on the journey back to self, a sacred one indeed.

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
