I have experience and am passionate about working with children, young people, and parents- in particular, I am interested in working with neurodiverse children and families and prioritise to adopt a neuro-affirming approach to my practice. Further areas of interest include working with clients experiencing depression, low mood and self-esteem issues, anxiety, stress, emotional regulation, and behavioural issues. I have experience with client’s who have experienced trauma (including family violence and other forms of interpersonal trauma)- as such, I ensure my practice is trauma informed and build a safe space for the clients.
In my sessions, I bring a friendly and down to earth orientation to make sure all my sessions are client centred, empathetic, and warm. I follow the client’s lead and aim to tailor sessions and strategies around personal interests (e.g., Minecraft, Lego, Pokémon, animals) and often create personalised social stories when appropriate.
For kids, I find they enjoy when they learn how much I love animals, Lego and playing games, drawing, and making crafts, playing with puppets and squishmallows, have a small fluffy black dog named Dusty (after the football player), listen to Taylor Swift and lots of music and love Harry Potter.
