We all want to deal with the difficulties that limit our lives, to find strength and peace, and to create a meaningful life. We may have a specific problem, or simply a desire to work on ourselves. The deeper roots of long-standing problems lie in the unconscious, in unconscious patterns of behaviour. Therapy can pull up these deep roots into awareness, so that they can be understood, re-evaluated, and dissolved. New energy and liberating fresh perspectives replace old patterns in relationships, career, family and inner life.
I am always interested in what my clients have to say, and how they see their issues. I ask clients to 'bring something' to sessions - an issue, a memory, a dream, an important conversation, etc. It's the starting point from which to explore and go deeper into the client's issues. I do not 'lead' the work. Therapy is always a conversation between equals.
I like to make a preliminary appointment with you (at no charge) if you are thinking about therapy. This gives us the opportunity to talk in peace about the kind of work you want to do, the way I work, and to see if we are a good fit. We can also deal with the practical matters of discussing appointment times and fees (I have a sliding scale).
