You have typically strived to get the most out of life. You love a challenge and until now felt pretty satisfied with life. Things are starting to look grey. You may be going through a difficult life transition or event such as divorce, grief, retirement, facing redundancy, bullying in the workplace, career change or aging? You have lost the energy and confidence you once had and may even feel depressed and anxious at times. This is effecting your interpersonal and family relationships, health, and effectiveness at work. You feel "stuck".

Being listened to as you talk with someone you can trust helps you remember that you are not alone. It feels good to share, and talking about things can open up the door for healing. When we talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary. When we try to keep things stored in our head, especially strong feelings, it gets overwhelming, which fuels our anxiety. Talking frees us from that. Together, our conversations will uncover the hidden meaning behind what's happening, and help you to find your way, as you make sense of the challenges you have found yourself facing.

I'm Kubra - and I work with kids, teens and young adults. Growing up neurodivergent can feel like you have been caught between two lands. There is the land of mainstream neurotypicalism - this land is made up of unspoken and confusing rules, uncomfortable clothes, and expectations about how you should move, speak, and look at other people (and for how long!).

These tender, practical and evidence-based services are designed to help you heal your heart, feel confident & worthy, nurture connection, explore meaning and purpose, navigate the identity reconstruction and existential life transition from potential mother to being at peace & thriving as a childless (not-by-choice) woman.
It’s an honour to meet you. I’m sorry for the difficult circumstances and heartbreak that may have led you here. I work with women who had hoped to be mothers and it didn't happen. My hope is you can experience the love, care and support you need to heal your heart and live well. This is offered, with the deep, heart-felt knowing, that comes from being an involuntarily childless woman too. My personal story includes deeply desiring motherhood, 10 years trying to conceive (including IVF), leaving the clinic and struggling to find appropriate support. It was devastating, and I knew there must be other women just like me.

Grief is a natural and complex emotion that arises from various forms of loss, including the death of a loved one or animal, the end of a relationship, significant life or health changes, or the loss of an idea of what one’s future might look like or our sense of our identity. I support people who are grieving from 5 years old through to teenagers, adults and into old age. My hope is to create opportunities for you explore your grief, learn new ways of coping and build up our communities to cope with grief more effectively and compassionately.

Female Counsellors

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
