Close your eyes for a moment and ask yourself. How am I really feeling today? I wonder what emotion comes forward. Now what would you do with this or these emotions? In my experience clients who experience emotional disturbance, often do not know what to do with difficult emotional experience, so it is either avoided or suppressed, later causing mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, stress etc. By focusing on our feelings, I believe we learn how emotions influence our choices/actions, and if we change the way we feel, we can change the way we think and behave.

The supremacy dream has left us frozen, fragmented and disconnected from ourselves, others, and our ecosystem. Working through our body allows us to touch our vital force of life and come closer to our true desires and dreams. When we feel a sense of safety and belonging within ourselves, we enter into deeper intimacy with our wider webs of love - to our kin, the earth and the cosmos. In a world where the dominant narrative is to hustle more to accomplish your dreams, as your somatic coach, I am here to help your nervous system work less hard so you can relax into your Being and trust your inner inklings for what’s next.

I'm a registered Counselling Psychologist, Supervisor and Director at iPsychology who is passionate about working collaboratively with people to reach their goals. We emphasize the importance of the therapeutic relationship, viewing each client as unique in their experience and needs. For nearly 15 years we have worked with children, adolescents and adults and families in educational, private, hospital and community settings and I support the team here at iPsychology. We work with clients new to therapy and those wanting to work on a deeper therapeutic level, with client’s describing us as authentic, nurturing... and light-hearted.

I believe that everyone should be able to express and develop strategies in order to become happy individuals. By experiencing this ‘lightbulb’ moment, my clients are able to live their respective lives in which they feel confident, supported and independent.

My interests are varied and this includes the age of clients that I see which ranges from 14 years through to adults. I have a passion for working with anxiety related conditions including general anxiety, adjustment, change of life difficulties, stress, and associated difficulties such as perfectionism. Through my work with young people I developed an interest in school related issues which led me to complete training in the Cool Kid Anxiety Program. I now offer the program which aims to support young people and their supports to learn ways to address their mental health struggles.

Specialising in high risk adolescents and adults, I offer contemporary psychoanalysis and EMDR resulting in powerful therapeutic benefits. Integrating several types of therapy (CBT, solution focused, problem solving), psychoanalysis informs my work in terms of the way I conceptualise the client's current problems and EMDR (as needed) results in a faster way of processing trauma. Combining these two therapies provides effective in-depth therapy with relatively brief therapy. If you have been suffering with unresolved psychological trauma, I can help you to overcome the problems that are keeping you from maximising your potential.

I work with a range of mental health conditions in people 18 years and over. My main interest is working with men to address their mental health and associated difficulties. These difficulties may include anxiety, depression, stress, relationship or parenting struggles. My other area of interest is in treating addictive behaviours around gaming and internet use. Helping people to learn to address their problematic behaviours has become an area that I am passionate about. This has also led to my interest in obsessive compulsive disorders which has some similar challenges for the individual.

Since starting my career in psychology in 2009, I have enjoyed worked with adults of all ages. Some of the issues that have been brought to therapy include interpersonal issues, family conflict, career/workplace issues, academic/study problems, grief, struggles with mood, motivation, identity, values and life transition. My clients come from all walks of life: tradies and warehouse personnel, students, retirees, teachers, fellow health professionals, stay-at-home moms, career women, new migrants, second generation Australians - all of who are just trying to navigate what mental health means to them and what they want out of life.
