Barbara Klein Ph.D., Ed.D.

Barbara Klein, Ph.D., Ed.D., is an author who has done extensive research on the development of twin identity. Her research on twin attachment informs other issues such as the importance of genetics, the environment, and parenting. She consults with twins and parents of twins who need guidance on reducing conflict and other issues.

Klein has written 10 books in the field of developmental psychology and education, including Twin Dilemmas: Changing Relationships Throughout the Lifespan; Challenges of Gifted Children: Empowering Parents to Maximize Their Child’s Potential; Raising Gifted Kids: Everything You Need to Know to Help Your Exceptional Child Thrive; Alone in the Mirror: Twins in Therapy; and Not All Twins Are Alike.

She facilitates weekly parenting groups because she believes that parents are the most important and influential people in a young child’s life. As a young parent in the 1980s, she worked to develop the initial parent education component for Head Start, a program developed to enhance the school readiness of economically disadvantaged preschoolers.

Klein earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley, her Masters and Doctorate in Early Childhood Education from the University of Southern California, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California Graduate Institute.
