Anna-Lisa Cohen, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology at Yeshiva University in New York City, and a contributor to The Washington Post and The New York Times. Her research is guided by an interest in the influence that future goals and intentions have on behavior. Some of this research focuses on our ability to successfully remember a future intention, known as prospective memory. Recently, she has examined narrative transportation, the psychological state that occurs when individuals “lose themselves” in a fictional narrative.
