Jason Roach, Ph.D., is Professor of Psychology and Policing and Director for the Secure Societies Research Institute, at the University of Huddersfield, UK. Jason is also a Chartered Psychologist and Editor-in-Chief for the Police Journal (published by Sage). Jason has worked in an academic role for the past sixteen years after previously working as a crime analyst for the UK Home office and at various Mental Health Services in the North of England. Jason has published research on topics including; investigative decision-making, terrorism, cold-case homicide, crime prevention, and evolutionary psychology and crime, and has co-authored four books including ‘Self-Selection Policing’, in 2016. His main areas of current research are in police and offender decision-making (particularly in the commission and investigation of violent crimes), preventing crime, investigating child homicide, and in maintaining and improving the wellbeing of those working in policing.
