Emilia Bunea Ph.D.

Emilia Bunea, Ph.D., is the CEO of Ed.movie Inc., a California-based edutainment company that seeks to make education irresistible by drawing on the power of both comedy and drama. In 2021, Dr. Bunea produced the world’s first cinematic management case study, “Crossroads Life”, a leadership development resource anchored in an award-winning film and aimed at business students and executives. Dr. Bunea previously served in senior roles at large financial corporations for over two decades, most recently as CEO of an organization with 2 million customers. She also currently serves on the board of directors of an asset management company.

Dr. Bunea received her Ph.D. in Management from VU Amsterdam, an executive MBA from University of Washington, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holder of a Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma. She is also a graduate of the Senior Executive Program at London Business School. Dr. Bunea’s research on leadership was published in Human Resource Management Review, Frontiers of Psychology, Harvard Business Review online, London Business School Review and Academy of Management Proceedings, and covered by The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, GQ, The Times of India, Les Echos and others. She lectures on leadership worldwide, both in open courses offered by Ed.movie and at business schools and corporations. Her TED talk on serious leisure for leaders has received wide acclaim.
