Cortnie S. Baity Ph.D., LMFT

About

Cortnie S. Baity, Ph.D., LMFT is a practicing, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and owner of Onward and Upward Psychotherapy & Consulting Services, LLC. Her practice currently serves residents all over the states of Florida and Georgia, helping people move toward a better condition in their life and relationships, one session at a time. Her clinical niche includes working with couples, individuals, and families on issues surrounding communication, life transitions, anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression, dating, self-esteem, and trauma. Although she enjoys serving a broad demographic of clients, she particularly serves adults ages 20-45, women, Christians, and those of African American/Black descent. Dr. Baity has specialized clinical experience working with veterans, as she has previously served as a Readjustment Counselor at the Department of Veteran Affairs.

Dr. Baity is a two-time Florida State University alum, earning a Ph.D. in Human Sciences and B.S. in Psychology; a University of Kentucky alum, earning a M.S. in Family Sciences, emphasis Couple and Family Therapy; and a Texas Tech University alum, in which she completed an Accredited Financial Counselor distance learning program in Personal Finance & Financial Counseling.

Dr. Baity identifies herself as a life-long, avid learner. Although she enjoys learning about a variety of subjects, she especially enjoys observing, learning, and studying the human psyche (how we think, behave, and feel) and how people relate to one another (relationships). Dr. Baity believes that it is a blessing to obtain knowledge in both formal and informal ways, but also a responsibility, such that—once we learn, we must teach others. Her blog is a reflection of this personal philosophy.
