CatalinaToma, Ph.D., is a professor at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. She received her Ph.D. from Cornell University in 2010. She researches the effects of new media technologies on relational communication (impression management, impression formation, deception, and trust) and on users' self-esteem and emotional well-being. Recent projects include self-presentation and deception in online dating profiles, the psychological benefits of social networking websites, and assessing the trustworthiness of online self-presenters.
